I have 2 15 in subs for my car and i really dont want to pay $50 on a sheet of MD particleboard when i have a sheet of plywood that i could use. So is there any negative to using plywood instead of MDP?

Yes, plywood, especially a Marine Grade, makes a fine enclosure. Any dense material makes a good enclosure. Don't use particle board. Use MDF, which is medium density fiberboard. Actually, HDF is better (high-density).

Even concrete or other rock is great, but it's really really heavy so not too practical in cars.

You should also brace the enclosure internally to make it more rigid.

And by the way, plywood is way stronger then MDF. Most people don't know that MDF is also totally porous. Air will go through it. I have seen it proven with a 3/4" MDF and a vacuum cup.

Besides, the original question was if he could use plywood.

MDF or high quality. Sure it is expensive, but plywood won't handle the output from the subs.

Issues that will arise: the screw holes will have vibrations, and the harder screws will eventually wear away the plywood, you will get noise from the plywood. It will warp under the weight of the subs.

Instead of having to build the box three times, pay a little bit more now, and not worry about it.

You should really use MDF board. This is much stronger and is great for subwoofer boxes. Just make sure the box is built to specs. you may need to use some insulation to trick the subs into thinking the box is larger. Use MDF

mdf would be the better way because it's anti resosnate and it will make your sound alot better also it's easier to work with, than plywood and particle board is not a strong ,as soon as water hits it its done for. hope this helps

Medium density won't cut it because of vibration. You want the heavy stuff Novaply or structural particle board for best sound.
