There are 4 holes on the faceplate of the stereo, 2 on each side. You can buy a tool for a couple bucks at the local auto parts store or you can do what i do and cut 2 4-6 inch pieces of wire coathanger, bend them into a U shape and insert each end into a hole. Give it a little push and the stereo should release from the dash.

Daddy daycare is correct about the wire coat hanger trick. You can buy the actual tool for a couple of dollars if you want.

I have actually used four nails, one in each hole, to release the stereo head before. Anything that will press the release tabs will work!

Its a 10 second job with the ford radio removal tools. Go to any car stereo shop or circuit city, best buy, ect and ask them to help you out real quick. If you can find a set of the tools yourself, they will only cost a few dollars.
the tools have a lip that lets you pull out on the radio as it unlocks the clips, and its hard to rig something up at home.

Leave your car out on the street for the night, leave the doors and windows open and take one wheel off and take it inside where it will be safe. When you get up in the morning your stereo should be gone but your car will still be there.

if its got the four little hole on the sides just got to halfords and get a removal tool, or use very thin screw drivers to dislodge the clips and then pull...hard. My fiesta one took about 2 mins to get out like that, just make sure you pull straight cause its slid on to a rail at the top and if its not quite straight it'll keep getting stuck

i take it it is relating to the huge stereo, with plastic casing, you may yet yet another plastic plate which will carry your new stereo and conceal the huge hollow thats ;eft, bypass and verify halfords out, good success

Take a day trip to Liverpool. They'll also have your wheels while you've stopped at the traffic lights.

Take it to a Ford dealer or a qualified fitter.
