My Dad says it's easier to change your name to an existing number plate you can buy off the shelf, than try to find one that matches your real name. I can own a car in a couple of years and am thinking about a deed poll name change- but what's out there?

I saw the commercial last night and of course they had tiny fine print flash across the screen before you could read it. I'm like yeah right. New cars for only 88 down 88 per month. I did a little searching but couldn't find much on it although it's an affiliate of some other bad credit loan network. So what do you think?

The company I work for is selling a 97 pontiac bonneville with about 260,000 miles. Runs good, it's been with the company since new.

Would you pay $500 for it for a work car?

I am considering buying my first car, and I was hoping that I could get an idea as to how much it will cost me, roughly, in terms of buying a (used) car, as well as insurance etc (I know it depends what car I get, who from etc... I am simply looking for some rough ideas.)
Thanks in advance

Ok, my car broke down a few weeks ago and it's determined to be unfixable. My husband was completely fine driving his car every day (which is an older model car) mine was a 97 cavalier. Neither car was the best, but we were both content.
Now we have to buy a new car. NOW he's saying it's only fair if he gets to take the car to work half the week and I take it the other half. He drives 30 miles to work every day and I drive 10 to work, but I have our kids with me and need to drop them off at sitters, pick up from school, etc.
He never ever wanted to take my cavalier and was totally fine driving his car to work every day without a problem. Now just cuz we get a new car (cuz my primary one broke down) he feels he wants to basically take ownership of the new one and determine who gets to drive it, and when.
He wants to be the decision maker on what car we buy. He gets mad cuz I want a bigger car such as a van or SUV cuz it would be easier with the kids, he wants a taurus.

Ok, we found a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with 39k miles online for $16249. We like the truck and went in to negotiate. He said the online price is as low as he can go. If we walked in off the street he'd have told us it was $17999. He also said he checked with distributors (something like that) to see what he could get for our trade. We told him what we wanted and he counter offered and went down to $16000. How do we know if this is a good price? Is the whole internet pricing thing true?

Oh..... we also found a 2003 Toyota Camry with 29k and their website showed $15995. He said there was room to negotiate on this car. I said to give us a price without the games and we would talk to them tomorrow. He gave a price of 14999.

Why room to work on one and not the other. Do you think this sounds legit? I hate buying cars and playing the games!

I want a new car. I have a couple of very nice used cars. Is it possible to make a trade with a car dealer where it is an even swap? I understand that I will be responsible for the Tax, Title and License.

I also understand that a new car dealer is their to make money, but the two used cars I have are NICE cars and they will probably make more money on the sale of these two used cars than from the sale of on new car.

If you are wondering why I just don't sell the used cars and use the money to buy a new car - it is because I don't have the clout that a new car dealer does. I don't have a hundred customers a day walking past my car with the intention of buying a car. Just makes more sense to me.

Again, is it possible to make an even swap at a new car dealership with a couple of used cars???

I just hit the 1 year mark on my lease, and unfortunately I also have had a sessure. According to NY law, you can not drive for atleast a year if you have a sessure, and maybe more, because you have to be sessure free for a year before they will review your abiltity to drive. While a year seems not to long, paying a lease payment each month for a car that I can't drive just stinks. I just wanted to know my options before I call up the company.

I'm currently leasing a Scion tC and am looking for move to NYC and won't need it. I started my lease in Aug 06 for a 2007 Scion tC and am planning to move to NYC sometime in Oct or Nov.
I know I can transfer my lease to someone else who is willing to take it. Where can I list that?
Would you suggest I buy out the car and sell it? Am I able to buy it out after the lease hit 1 year or less?

I have a 2006 Honda Civic EX and I'm toying with the idea of trading up for something a bit more powerful, but I'm concerned because I was in a front end accident (one airbag deployed). The car is completely restored and you'd never know it had crashed, but I am an ethical person and would disclose the accident, and want to know if it's still worth anything. My friend that works at a Honda dealership said my exact car is worth about $18,000, but that doesn't consider the accident. Any thoughts?
