The company I work for is selling a 97 pontiac bonneville with about 260,000 miles. Runs good, it's been with the company since new.

Would you pay $500 for it for a work car?

yes..if it still runs good...I wouldn't sink any money into it thought ...hell you can bring it to a junk yard and get $250 for scrap metal...so if it runs a few months without a major break down it's worth it

My father-in-law has owned two Bonnevilles; an 87 and a 96. Both had severe transmission problems once they got into the 140,000 to 160,000 mile range. If the one you're looking at shifts strong, I'd go for it. But if you sense any hesitation or gear slippage, keep your money.

it would be a great deal Lance for 500.00 consider this if financing a vehicle cheapest you'd have in payments is around 100 a month, so if it last 5, you got your money back, do regular oil changes and maybe a tuneup, and she will make it to 300,000 easy, just don't work it hard, lots of things are getting past the point usefullness, ie bearing, cvc joints, transmission, good luck and happy driving!

Sounds like an excellent deal. You'll get a quick return on your investment using it as a work car. Just remember to start saving for a down payment on the car you'll have to buy when it finally lays down on you.

Stick a USA flag sticker on the bumper and a USA flag on the antenna.... and sell it to one of these "Rah-rah USA!!!!" nationalist yahoos for $5000. Then go out and buy a real American car like a Honda or Toyota.
