bought the car from a private seller for 7000. 1000 cash and 6000 check. the story of the car was that it just got scraped. so i tried to resell it but the ppl wer saying the airbags must have deployed if the interior is different colors. so i tried to ask the owner but he started avoiding me. phone calls and emails. i checked the title certificate and it had an expired registration, but the sticker on the license had 07. hes not telling me the truth about the car. so i stopped the check for 6000. and if he doesnt respond anytime soon, can i resell it to someone else with the expired registration? in as is condition? or should i keep trying to call him for my 1000 back and return the car? it was my first time to buy a car and i feel like i got scammed for it.

How do I convince my dad to buy me an 01 Mustang GT Convertible for $8 grand. I have a old civic beater right now. just got done with a job. my dad had a great paying job and is all im asking for is a decent graduation present. He wants me to work but it's a waste of time makingt 7.50 an hour for squat when you could be studying. What are some key facts I can give him to persuade him??

I bought a 1998 buick lesabre form an old man. He was like 87 years old. He buttered me up before he sold the car by buying me lunch and talking to me about my personal life and his. I bought the car for 3700 dollars. It drove great for the first 50 miles. Then I took it to get an oil change. About 20 miles after the oil change the engine began to knock loud. I checked the oil and the pressure and they were both fine. Took it to a mechanic and he said the rod is knocking bad and is about to go. Told me for a rebuild it's going to be about 3700 dollars. The cars only worth about that much. So I got screwed. What can I do to cut my losses. The mechanic told me to put some engine honey in it and try to trade it in. The trade in value is blue booked at 3700. I don't want to sell the car to anybody else because I think it is wrong. But I cannot afford to take a 3700 loss. WHat should I do? Any ideas will be appreciated and considered. Thanks.

Hey I am going to be getting my first car in a few months. I was wondering what kind of cars were good for first ones. I would rather have a car.....but I will settle for anything. We can have some pretty icy winter. I have to pay for most of it myself....but I will have a decent job.....and I have a lot of money saved up already I would really like it to be under $8,000.....but nothing over $10,000.

I bought a car with my husband. We got the temp moving pass for 1 month from DMV, but it didnt pass the smog check. My husband went to the DMV to request an extended moving pass, and learned the numbers on the title and the car DONT MATCH! They said they cant issue a new pass, but offered no other advice. Not sure if he checked everywhere on the car for all the VINs. I called Reno Police and they said call the DMV. My husband said he will but he hasnt yet.
My question is:
1) where are all the places on a car (this one is a 1985 Mercedes 190-E) where the VIN is listed?
2) What are my rights in this matter? I made an expensive mistake by not checking the numbers. Will I go to jail? Should I seek representation?
Please, only serious answers. I dont want to be reamed about checking the numbers I have learned my lesson I just need answers here.

I am confused i have been reading that everybody is supposed to pay a little over invoice of a new car correct?
Well i just bought a new car about 3 months ago and i paid under invoice. How much money did the dealer make the asking price was about 1900 and the invoice was about like 17,950 and i paid 17800.
