This is the 2nd trans. i had punched a hole in the transfer case originally when the front drive line sheared off the bolts, replaced that, and my tranny died immediately. litterally the 1st time i drove it. then replaced the trans, but used the same transfer case and torque converter. now it drives fine in 1st and second, but won't shift out of 2nd. It shifted through the gears the first time, but then would never go past 2nd from the next intersection...????

I make deliveries. Almost every day I see car alarms going off as the cars owner is getting in or out of his own car. Or someone bumbs the car etc. etc. When was the last time anyone came running when they heard a car alarm. Today as I was going in one store I could see a person sitting in a car across the street with the alarm going for a few seconds. He looked a bit suspicious but not terribly so. As I approached the door of the store two older fellows were talking. They couldn't see the car where they were standing. I heard one say to the other "oh its just a car alarm" and that all they did. I can imagine how the police would feel if everyone called them every time they heard an alarm. So what good are the car alarms anyhow. Steering wheel clubs can be cut off but I think a thief is less likely to sit in a public place doing that. Anyhow, what do you think?

I have a International DT 433 truck and I have a problem when starting early in a cold morning. I've changed the batteries and the starter as well and still have that problem. In the morning when I am trying to start it, its like it can't make a contact and there is no sound, no nothing. Sometimes when starting I can hear short striking sound and than crancking and the engine starts. During the day when the engine is warm I don't have any problem starting up. It mostly happens when it's very cold outside. So if anybody has some experience or have dealt with that kind of problem please feel free to share. Thanks!

I was a week late in paying my insurance and I get suspended for a year, even though I renewed the insurance and showed it to the judge. Is that excessive. Life just got hectic and I overlooked it. It happens.

A certain friend of mine was driving home last night at around 10:30p.m. after having a few drinks at the bar. The road to get to her neighborhood is unlit and usually empty, so she wasn't expecting anybody to be trying to cross at that hour. Unfortunately, when she was less than a mile from her neighborhood entrance, and figure briefly flashed in front of her headlights before falling onto the hood of the car and then disappearing underneath. My friend was so scared she couldn't think, so she just kept driving until she got home.
Today she is so scared that she may have hurt somebody, but she's also afraid that she'll be sentenced to prison because she was too scared to report it last night! She hasn't mentioned it to a soul yet! If she goes forward to the police now, will it still be considered a hit-and-run? Would it be better if she just stayed quiet and pray for that person? I want to give my friend the best advice, but I'm not sure what to say. Please respond!

I bought a used car from a local dealer last Friday. I already contacted my insurance and the new car added to my policy. Now what? I suppose that I need to pay my sales tax. What do I need to do to register the vehicle and transfer my plates? Does the dealer do any of this for me? I financed the car so I do not have the title. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I have an old LDV 400 Convoy which has double doors in the back. There are latched using this vertical rod system, which I have seen before, but can't find out the name of! Just to clarify, you twist the handle on the outside, this retracts the two vertical rods from their latch housings at the top and bottom of the door. Does this type of system have a specific name, and does anyone know where I can get a replacement/spare parts from? Thank you!

Okay, here's my question.

I drove the same vehicle for 6 years and was very close to paying it off. When i impulsively went and picked out and financed a brand new RAM last July. (during a 6000 cash back deal)

Then Gas prices jump what 50 cents at least, and trucks are all over the lots. MPG's have never bothered me, i mean i drove a jeep that got maybe 13/mpg's. but i'm not happy with my truck. its too big and i have literally changed my mind. talk about buyers remorse big time!

I want to the do the same!!! So what now!?

What are my options?

i'm 23, i'm starting driving school next week but whenever i've tried learning before I get behind the wheel and all my confidence goes out the window. I just seem to fixate on the fact that once I have my liscense i'll always have my daughter in the car with me and I start to worry about what if something happens. I'm just looking for any tips to relax while driving and any other tips not related to the mental aspect of driving. All I really know is, the gas, break, heat and radio....please help, after all you may end up on the same road as me one day so it would benifit both of us......

I have a 1991 Ford Escort LX Hatchback. I recently hit a deer with it causing front end damage. It will need a new radiator, hood, and anything right by the radiator I'm sure since it got pushed back a little bit. I have someone interested in buying it...any idea what I should charge? KBB says that this car in "Fair" condition is $885.

It does have pretty new tires (just put on in May) and also has a brand new exhaust. It runs great and the body is quite good on it still.

My car won't start. In fact, it won't even crank up.

It doesn't seem to be the battery because when I turn the key all the lights and the radio come on.

The only thing I notice is when all the lights go off, the engine light stays on. Again, it doesn't even crank. What could the problem be?

It was idling and accelerating rough. Fuel injector cleaner didn't do the trick so I took it to a Midas for a diagnostic (check engine light was on). They diagnosed it as bad compression in one of the cylinders. As I didn't want to put the money into having it fixed I've been driving it around for two months looking at new vehicles. So what happens? Car starts running fine. No hesitation, smooth idle. Is it possible that it was a clogged injector that worked itself out? Regardless, what's my recourse to Midas. I'm pretty sure cylinders don't fix themselves. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
