I took my 9 year old in to change the alternator because the bearings had gone. He just phoned me up sounding grave saying that the tension belt(?!?) had gone and had to be chiselled out of the engine block and replaced at a cost of GBP125. He said it snapped as it had corroded but it was fine before.

Have they screwed up and are attempting to get my to pay for it or is he genuine?

I have a 2001 Daewoo matiz & me being me, I lost the petrol cap. I used to have a non-locking cap, but on a website I found a locking cap. If possible, I'd like to get one of them so I can attach the keys to my car keys and therefore can't drive off without the cap!! Does anyone know if I can use it?
I'd really appreciate it if you could provide a reference with your answer just so I don't do something stupid!

I have been going through physical therapy and such off and on and I am owed PIP benefits(michigan) but my agent wont respond or return my calls. Right now he owes me roughly 1500 for my expenses over a year and owes some medical places for tests and medical work done on me as a result of the accident, I am now being taken to collections over those bills. I have called numerous times and left lots of messages. I filed my PIP claim in time and its been months and still no response at all, what actions can I take to fix this. any help would be nice, I can't even work a regular job till I go back to physical therapy but he wont pay so I can't!

I am olny getting like 15 miles to the gallon and thats highway miles. Going to get some fuel injector cleaner because I just filled up tank. It has like 85000 miles, is it time for a tune up? My oil has been changed recently, but not sure about air filter. Just trying to get some fairly inexpensive tips on (or as inexpensive as possible) as to what i can/should do.

I was having problems starting the SUV (1993 Nissan Pathfinder) with an old battery. So I replaced the battery with a used, but fully charged battery (checked with a voltmeter). With this battery, the car was fully functional for a day of driving and turning on/off. The next day, the battery was completely discharged--no clock, no nothing--and the voltmeter reading was 0.4--dead.

So I jump started the car. Immediately afterwards it died when I put the car on drive (I wanted to move it). I jump started the car a 2nd time, left everything alone, and let it run for an hour. I came back afterwards, and opening the door turned off the engine. I checked the battery and it managed to charge to about 2 on the voltmeter.

What is going on?! I appreciate your help in advance--and happy holidays!

I am picking up my new car today and my young toy boy Edward...26 wants to drive it too. I havent added him as a second driver to my insurance policy as i find it puts the price up. He says he can still drive my car as he is insured as fully comp and can drive it 3rd party. My argument is that if he does crash my car then there wouldnt be much cover and i would probably be without a car. Does anyone know the in's and out's of people driving other peoples cars if they are not a named driver and how much cover they would have. We had a terrible barney about this today and he left in a huff saying i dont share. :(

Anyone in the industry knows that they are the least respected employees in the aviation community. They want us to think that lives are in their hands, but they won't acknowledge that it is the maintenance departments that make jets safe for flight. If their "skills" are so important, why are there switches/buttons in the cockpit for Autopilot, Autoland, Takeoff, GoAround, Autobrake, Autospoiler, Autoslat??

Once the plane has stopped and the doors are opened, the pilot can go (stagger/swagger) home and be assured he has nothing to worry about. The AMTs responsible for the airworthiness of the plane are held responsible for their work for years after the work is complete. Even if someone comes behind them and screws it up. Even if they leave the avaition industry. If the auto pilot fails on commercial airliners...no need to panic. There are backup systems.

At any given time, there are tens of thousands of lives flying on the work of each AMT who has ever worked on the jet.

Three weeks ago(Wednesday) I had to board a train without paying for a ticket with the intension of paying on the train, however northern rail send two carriages and it was packed to the rim so much that people who wanted to get on at at the last stop before everyone gets off couldnt get on. This is the busy time aswell. So I get off at salford crescent and was in a rush to get to my labs so a ran up the stairs thinking I don't want to be late. Saw the ticket inspectors when I got to top of stair case, turned around back the the ticket man on the station but one fo them ran after me and said wheres my ticket and I said i didnt have one and he said come with me so i gave him my details and went off. Got the letter though yesterday asking for a exsplaination, then goes on about legal stuff saying I could get a criminal record. For what!!!!!!!! I have broken a companies policy not the law! Anyone with any help on my situation will be handy.

California...a friend is changing lanes on the freeway to prepare to exit. She moves over to the right lane, (she thought safely) and was hit from behind by another car( bumper came off) this hit sends her spinning across the lanes to the left and she is again hit in the passenger rear door by a second vehicle. Whos at fault and who pays for which cars repairs.?

We had just dropped it off there & she was moving it w/ the door open & wrapped the door around a pole. Anyway it took him months to put a used piece of crap (wrong color) door on & fix the car. We had to have a rental car for 3 weeks because he had the car for like 6 weeks! He said he would make $100 payments each month until the rental fee was paid for. The rental came up to $500-$200 it would have cost us to have him fix the car, leaving him owing us $300. He made one payment of $100 & has owed us $200 for the past several months, plus a paint job or nicer door for the car, all of which he agreed to do, but we didn't get it in writting. (I told my husband to, but he never listens!) This is supposed to be a ligit business...he rents a space & has a bs card, but anyone can do that right? What can I do, if anything, at this point??

I purchased a used 1996 Sunfire, and it has an indicator light coming on recently. It is a red rectangle with a wavy line at the bottom and an arrow pointing down. It keeps flashing on and off. I took it to autozone, but it isn't staying on long enough to store a code in the computer for them to be able to tell me what is wrong with it. I think it might have to do with either the cooling system or the water pump. Anyone else know what it is?

ok yesterday i was following this old lady who could barely see over the steering wheel. and i was in a hurry to get to the store to get myself some groceries. note: it was my day off, and i had others things to do that day. so as i was following her, she kept looking in her rear view mear, and was doing at least 5 mph under the speed limit. we came to a round about, and it was very congested, she stopped and had no clue what to do. i honked my horn, and she started acting like she was scared. i then honked again, and flashed my lights. and she drove her car right into the yield sign and another car hit her. so finally i was able to get past her, and she was blocking the whole lane. tere were people yelling at me, and the old lady was crying. i just dont understand why they let old people who are afraid to drive have their licenses/ it really annoys me. luckily i got to my destination in time, and was able to enjoy my day off, but she really made me mad. whats wrong with some people?

Hi all! I have a friend who started me on the strange tradition of naming my cars. She found a perfect name for my ford focus, and now since I'm fixing up my classic 1967 mustang fastback, I want the perfect name for the car. If it helps, the car is going to be black with gold sports stripes. Any suggestions? I want like a real person name for the car. For example, my focus was named Cody. Either sex names are appreciated, I can't decide if my car is a boy or a girl, lol.
