German or Brit?

Question

If you were a car-less single guy who had just won the multi-million dollar lottery and the 1st thing you wanted to do was buy a car - for prestige, pleasure and comfort... Would you buy German (Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Maybach) or would you choose British (Jaguar, Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce)? Or would you not choose either?

Or would you rather go Italian (Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Lamborghini, Maserati, Lancia, Pagani)?

I would buy a Porsche Cayman S, Audi RS4, VW Toureg R, and BMW M3.
Bently was bought by VW a long time ago so now they are german engineered.
And RollsRoyce was bought by BMW a long time ago.
Jaguar was bought by Ford a while ago.
Aston Martin was bought by a car parts company in the Middle East.

You make it sound as if you're not interested in performance at all. Based on that, I'd buy a Lexus. It's just a better car. If you like performance, then I'd might take something like the M6. The maybach is for people who don't drive. That's not something you compare to a jaguar or a Benz.

If your question is just "German or Brit?" then I'd say British cars do have a certain snob appeal to them, but usually, they're pretty much mechanically inferior to whatever they compete with. They've always been that way, as much as I like them. So that winds up being a tradeoff between prestige and "pleasure". Having the car back at the dealer for electrical gremlins cancels out a lot of pleasure.

i would choose non of the above. i'd choose the 2005 FORD Ford GT.
