My car won't start. In fact, it won't even crank up.

It doesn't seem to be the battery because when I turn the key all the lights and the radio come on.

The only thing I notice is when all the lights go off, the engine light stays on. Again, it doesn't even crank. What could the problem be?

you don`t mention how long the battery has been on the vehicle.if you have a charger put the charger on for a couple of hours then try and start the car if the engine turns but does not fire up then your battery has gone kaput.your lights will come on when you turn the key because you are not using as much power than trying to start the engine it takes a great deal for the battery to turn the engine over.

hope this helps

If you get no sounds at all from the starter, it could well be the starter itself (or selenoid). It could also be the ignition switch, not the key switch, but another switch that is activated by a rod when the key is turned.

If you are getting a clicking sound when you try to start it, then it may well be that your battery just doesn't have th power it needs to turn the engine over,a nd may need to be replaced.

What kind of car is it? New or old? It all depends on the car. Older it sounds like the starter, newer it is something in the computer. Maybe time for the dealer.

If the battery voltage is at least 12.6 volts, then it could be a bad starter, bad ignition switch, or bad neutral safety switch.
