Hello there. 98 Chev Lumina 92k miles. Problem is this: I feel my wheel and accelerator pad vibrate as I'm driving at any speed, along with a low noise you can only hear well when inside the car. This will continue for about 30-40 minutes or so, and as I travel the noise and vibration will stop and the car will be pretty much running smoothly like normal. The problem doesn't affect my drivability or anything like accelerating etc. Also I cannot hear it with the hood up, seems like it is coming from somewhere below-ish on the car. I thought maybe it has something to do with exhaust cause the noise kinda sounds like one that it makes as the car is normally running only a bit louder, maybe something loose down there?. Also seems to get better if the car is in park or reverse, only when in drive will it occur, then like i said stop after awhile of driving, (I drive it several hours a day). Thanks in advance!!

It just started happening today. The RPM's will go up to 3-4000 and the engine will rev very loudly but give minimal power for about 4-5 seconds and then the power kicks in slowly. It seems to happen only on gear shifts. It's an automatic 93 blazer. I think it might not be getting enough air so I'm gonna change the filter but, could it be anything else?

Previous owner had rims on the car and she sold the rims before she sold the car to me ... She gave me the key to unlock the lug nut locks ...

Just last week we lost the key and now we really need it to get the back brakes done and where should I take it to get the locks off and we no longer want to put locks back on and put regular ones in since we don't have the rims ...

Thanks ...

On the tires, the top of the wear bar is level with the rest of the tire. The brakes work but they tend to squeak.... I need some info because no mechanic down here is going to give me a fair deal anymore.

And I don't want to hear the obvious (slow down, get a radar detector, etc.) but just some little tricks that not everyone may know about, like certain types of roads or conditions)

do you think this make sense?
waking up to the nasty smell of dirty rubbish, the irritating road workers trying to extend the narrow roads and the deafening cars beeping their car trying to get out of the traffic to get to work was definitely frustrating.

if it doesn't make sense please tell me where it went wrong and i'll correct it.
thanks

I am about to begin driving soon and one of my biggest fears once I am out on the roads is being injured or killed in a car crash. My friend tells me as long as I remain vigilant on the road, watch out for dangerous drivers, and don't drive fastly then there will be nothing for me to worry about, and that I will be safe. Do you think that my friend is right?

I dropped my bike in the water when crossing a small river. The exhaust wasn't submerged but I think water got under the seat (a KDX 200) and into the air box. I managed to push it out the the other side of the river and after much kicking managed to get it started. Quite a bit of water shot out the exhaust and the idling was pretty rough but after riding for a bit it came right again.

Is there anything that may get damaged from any residual water that may be in the system? Should I clean the and reoil the air filter and change the oil in the gearbox? My knowledge of motors is limited (which you can tell) and I am not sure if water can get past the piston rings and end up in the gearbox (like in a 4 stroke). Any help appreciated!

I bought a used car three weeks ago (04 Volkswagon Golf), i have had major problems with the car from day one. The engine keeps cutting out. I phoned the dealership where i got the car from and asked for a refund, they said I was not entitled to a refund as they only require to give a refund after they have had three attempts to sort the fault, is this true?
They are currently on there second attempt to sort the fault. in total I have had the car for 20 days and it has been in the garage for 15 days.

1998 Cheverlot Lumina 3100 engine all power. Problem comes and goes, no check engine light. After starting engine it idels smouth. When giving it gas, it starts missing and back firing only when engine is cold. After it warms up problem is gone. Yesterday it missed like it was running on 2 or 3 cylinders. Just before problem cleared it made loud knocking sound like a rod, clack clack clack about 15 times. It's full of oil. I have noticed the problem is worse when the humidity is very high or after a rain. The car is kept in a garage, so it doesn't get wet. Please if you don't know say so, I don't need wild hair brained guesses. And yes I have changed the fuel filter, oil, and air cleaner, plug wires and plugs. I would be gratefull for your help.

I live with my girlfriend and we both obviously have our own cars and car insurance on our own. Should I add her as a driver of my vehicle just in case something happens when she is driving? I asked my company and they asked if she drove it more than 12 times a year. In the instance of an accident, there is obviously no way they would know if she drove it once or 100 times that year - so are we adequately covered if I do not add her?

When you have a car accident, if its your fault and the other person claims from your insurance... do you have to pay for the excess?

I understand that hoses are reinforced but are tyres only inflated to about 5lbs psi to take expansion into consideration.
As a P.S. to another question congrats to the HX558 team on completion to get this aircraft flying again.

2001 Toyota Corolla, with just over 100K miles. I keep it maintained, and it will last another 100K, for sure.

But, it's ready for spark plugs (the oil change place showed me the plugs, and they are getting dirty).

I am fairly handy with fixing things -- not afraid of power tools and getting dirty... but need kind of STEP by STEP instructions.

What tools do I need?
Recommend brands of plugs?
Hints for getting them out, inserted and set correctly?

I was advised to unplug the cap, so that I can draw them out straight. To work on a cold engine if possible. And, most important, to be careful not to cross the threads - either in or out.

But, how difficult is it to set (is it called gapping?) them correctly so that the currently smooth-running engine, keeps running smoothly?

And, last, if I do something wrong, how do I trouble shoot?
