they need to do a background check on your driving record (tickets etc) every 6 months! They will also be checking for other things that show up under your drivers license (like non-child support payments, warrants etc)...and if any they will notify the appropriate agency.

But mostly it is to see if they can raise your rates every 6 months or once a year.
