Hello-

1985 Buick Skyhawk - good volts on the meter and everything works (lights, radio, etc.) - but it won't start. Last few starts have been getting really, really sluggish until now it just clicks.

My next course of action is to investigate the starter and.or starter solenoid. Sound like a good plan?

My next question is where, exactly is the solenoid and what am I looking for? My guess is that it would be mounted on the firewall somewhere but haven't been able to locate it thus far - if anyone can help with this or offer other suggestions it would me much appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a 1997 Chevy Malibu. The battery died today, and the anti theft system kicked in and locked the stereo. I'm in the army stationed in germany, so it's not easy to just go to somewhere and have it done. I bought the car from somewhere else, and the code wasn't in the manual??? Please help me.!!!!

Okay, as far as I know, mechanics are not supposed to mark up parts. My friend (who knows nothing about cars) tells me 'well thats what they do out here in CA.' I disagree. I'm from PA and I don't think it matters where you live. You do not mark up parts! I have three different parts all ACDelco, and their part numbers and they are all marked up, furthermore, I didn't even need the parts! For example, spark plug wire set for my car ACDelco #12173592 at $128.79 and the guy charged me $226.76!!! He has the same make and # on my receipt! Someone explain this please. (needless to say I'm fighting the bill.)

I'm looking to get a cruiser-style motorcycle, and have noticed that the cheaper brands such as Hyosung use final-drive belts instead of o-ring chains. Is this a significant indicator of lower quality or performance? Is there any real difference between the two types of final-drive?

Also, if anyone has a Hyosung (especially the GV650), please tell me what you think about it, particularly in terms of quality and performance.

I live in a remote aera, I can't see why I have to import 25kg bags of sand to remove a little rust, paint or gelcoat when there is tons of different grades lying around. With a little sifting and preparation could natural sand and grit be used?

A few months ago I had a new thermostat & all new hoses put in because it was actually overheating. At that time it was overheating when on the highway, but cooling off when I was driving slow or stop & go. Now my gauge will be in the red line, but it isn't actually overheating (no boiling, steaming, etc). There is no loss of coolant. It has also at times warmed up quickly & then cooled back down (to below normal running temp) very quickly according to my gauge. Any ideas about what it could be? Much thanks...

I think that the woman who turned left on to a railway line because her satalite navigation system told her to (yeah!!) should be banned from driving for life and most definately locked away in to a secure unit for the rest of her life.

She is clearly not capable of making a sensible decision and is obviously not safe to be let out on her own, ever again!

Anyone agree?

(Before you jump on to the band wagon, this is not a dig at women drivers either, I would say the same if it was a male driver)

I had it towed to my usual garage and they still cannot figure out why it turns on but won't stay on...should I take it directly to a Nissan dealership and have them look at it. It was bought new and havs never had a problem before. It only has 75,000 miles on it. What could the problem possibly be?

Hi. I have a 2005 Honda Civic, and just took it in for service today (at about 29,000 miles) I just got a call from the dealership telling me that the front break pads are almost worn out. It would be ok, but the problem is that this is the second time this has happened since I bought this car new 2 years ago. The first time the dealer even ended up waving any charges because the agreed that there had been some problem with the brakes since they shouldn't wear out after some 12,000 miles. I'm an average driver, so, I wonder if I'm the only one getting this kind of problem? Thanks!

I have a 1989 Chevy Silverado. The interior light that tells me that my parking brake is on won't turn off, even though my brake is off.

What could be wrong? Please no lame answers like "take it to a mechanic."

so how dumb is this person??
from Yahoo.co.uk

"A woman will not face prosecution after her satellite navigation system told her to drive onto a railway line.

The 52-year-old, from Dorking, Surrey, was waiting at a level crossing at Norman's Bay, near Eastbourne, East Sussex, on January 16 when the device told her to turn left.

She drove her silver Ford Fiesta onto the track at 7.30pm, blocking train services between Brighton and Hastings, a BTP spokeswoman said.

The unnamed woman was investigated for obstructing the railway and driving without due care, but police decided that pursuing a case against her would not be in the public interest.

PC Christine Holyoake said: "We have looked into the matter, and have come to the conclusion that the woman had made a bad but honest mistake.

"A prosecution is not in the public interest and the matter is now closed.""

Hi,
I want to bring a suit against a dealer for a used car purchase. But, I have no idea about who should pay attorney fee! Some say each part pays its own attorney fee, others say the part who is lost will pay all attorney fee for both sides, and also some say Judge will make the decision. Please give some knowledge about it. Thanks.

I have a screaming noise in front of my truck. Could it be the bearing in the brakes. It gets screaming when its cold outside, but when its warm, there is no noise. What will happen if i keep driving my truck with that noise.
