My parents bought a $50k vehicle and in the first month they were in two accidents. One was while on the freeway during heavy traffic. While the car was stopped, someone in front started to back up and intentionally crashed into it.

Another time, was making a right turn on a green light when someone ran the red light and crashed in to it causing $5k damage.

The first driver filed claim with parents' insurance company. Second driver hired a lawyer and filed claims also. They were clearly at fault but they filed first.

I guess that's what people do to get rich nowadays.... crash in to expensive cars and claim injury. What is this world coming to.....

Thanks for the answers on my other question. Now...does anybody have any experience with changing a fuel pump on the 2000 chevy cavalier with 2.2L motor? I know it's it the fuel tank and I'll have to drop the tank to get to it. Other than that...can it be done in our garage or do I need to take it to a real mechanic? We have alot of experience with cars. I ALWAYS change my own oil which is a pain on this car...I've changed the A/C compressor and a few other things. Is the fuel pump something I can do or is it out of my league? Thanks

Derek

I have two types of stickers. One is just a long college sticker thats has a clear background with colored lettering and the other is the expensive kind that is professionally cut. I have heard to put soap and water on the window first so that you could move it around. Does this work? Thanks!

Expressed in percent, how efficient are modern internal combustion, gasoline automotive engines -- let's say a Honda or Toyota engine? Anyone have any idea? I am talking about the efficieny in terms of what amount of energy used goes to produce power, and what is wasted as heat, or friction, etc.
Thanks

My gf's TA needs new front and rear brakes. I would like to do them myself.

Can I use a C-Clamp to spread the calipers or do I need the special tool for this application?

Also, do I need anything special to pull the hubs and repack the wheel bearing or is it pretty straight forward and requiring only basic hand tools?

I'm an experienced mechanic, just not with this car. I like to ask before jumping into things.

Thanks in advance!

I need to replace my Citroen C5 - too much wrong with it. The main reason that I bought the Citroen was the adjustable suspension which enabled the car to be driven up a very steep ramp to the garage without grounding. I don't want to buy another Citroen - can anyone suggest a replacement in the same price/size bracket which has a short distance between the front wheels and the front of the car so that the front of the car doesn't hit the ground on the way up the ramp? Thanks.

can't they do the same for a passenger car for a 60 mph crash? I mean, don't the impact energies progress exponentially with increased speed, instead of in a linear fashion? It seems like it wouldn't be too hard to make a regular passenger car so safe that in almost every case, it would be possible for a passenger to walk away from a 60mph wreck.

I was driving home from work on Friday night when a deer hit the drivers side of my car. The damage is along the drivers side door and the front fender. Due to this damage I can't even use that door, to drive it I have to crawl through the passenger side. I told my husband that the adjuster is supposed to come to the house, and he said don't bother with the adjuster right now and take it to a body shop he has used in the past. He said that what usually happens with an adjuster is that they cut you a check and if the repair cost is more than the check is for then you can get screwed. He says that the adjusters work on comission from the insurance company and that it is in their benefit to save them money. As of today I still haven't spoken with an adjuster. What happens if I just take my car to the shop without the adjuster seeing it? I have already taken pictures of the damage as well to back my claim.

thanks for any advice

A mother was kicked off a Delta Flight for breastfeeding her baby and not covering up.
Do you think they should of kicked her off?
Was she in the wrong?
What do you think?

I am a breast feeding mother my self and I was shocked but not supprized by this. I do not think she should of been kicked off. Now my self when I feed in public (wich is very rarely) I try to be very discreate about it.

Compare this to a similar car with manual gear transmission. As I would like to switch from manual to automatic on my next car it would be very helpful to hear from drivers who have had the experience of driving both types.

I have two symptoms that seem to be related:

1) A clicking sound, coming from below my dash. It sounds like a gear thats trying to turn, but can't so it clicks backward, only to try it again. It consistent too, like a heartbeat. Specifically, it is around the area where the radio wiring is.
2) My heater is not working. It blows air out, but it's not warm. I've verified absolutely that I do not have the A/C on by accident. The air does not feel cold per say, but it feels like air from outside being blown inside.

I've checked the fuses, and that doesn't seem to be the issue. Any help is appreciated. While I don't expect to be able to fix this myself, unless it's something reasonably simple, I would like to know what to expect should I take it to a mechanic. Thanks for your time.
