I say that if your car isn't giving you any problems, keep it. Why continue to make car payments? Run your car till it drops, then get another one. It would be a different story if your current car is giving you problems or nickle and diming you to death.

As a used car manager I will say I agree with most everyone. The value drops dramatically after 100K. I would say the primary reason is even the people that have no issue with a car with that kind of mileage the banks refrain from lending money on them. Some banks won't even give loans on cars over 80K. However if you are comfortable with the car and it cost you less than 200 per month to drive. Not including normal maint. or Fuel. I say keep it....

I definitely have had many 100k+ autos in the final two decades. I definitely have yet to have a difficulty, yet I do my homework. the significant to the entire ingredient is how properly the previous proprietor(s) saved up their maintenance. I definitely have seen decrease mileage autos that have been junk simply by fact the oil exchange into by no skill alterations, coolant by no skill flushed, clogged filters ect. If a automobile is serviced on time table, guy made oil used and the spectacular stuff performed desirable, 100k is only getting broken in, fantastically on ecu autos. I definitely have bought 5 SAABs with over 100k, positioned yet another a hundred on them and spent little or no to maintain them working large. Get all the provider information in case you may, and spend an hour hard artwork with a qualified mechanic to have a pre-purchase inspection performed. that's an incredible thank you to get an incredible automobile for a fragment of what they solid new...

Yes, it is much better to trade in a car before it reaches about 65-70,000 miles. You will definitely receive more money for it...Of course, you will have to be careful as the car sales people may add it your supposed gain to the other end of the transaction. these people are not fools..they are going to make as much money as they can make, in spite of what you may think you have saved. Certain cars will continue to be great cars even though they do have over 100,000 miles. One is a beamer because my last one(1993) had 163,000 miles on it and even though I only received $7,000 for it in trade, someone is going to end up with a car which could go as high as 250,000 plus miles.

Money-wise, it is always better to drive a paid for automobile until the repair bills start becoming monthly event. You never get anything for a trade. In fact sell the vehicle yourself and approach a car seller with a cash offer.

when you trade a vehicle in for trade. once the vehicle reaches over 60,000 the value drops for mileage deduction, it drops more at 75,000 because most dealers cannot resell a car and finance it with those miles and once you reach 100,000 plus, its worth barely nothing, no matter what model you have
