If it's a sticker with glue, you obviously shouldn't use soap and water because it'll wash away the glue and the sticker won't stick.
If it's more of a decal and has no glue, you can use soap and water to apply the sticker, but you need to make sure you have a really good squeegee so that you can get all of the soap and water out from under the sticker. If there's a little soapy water left under there, you have two choices: (1) allow the soapy water to evaporate on its own, or (2) use a blow dryer on a warm setting to force the soapy water to dry up faster. Either way, the sticker will remain exactly where you put it as soon as the soapy water is gone. Good luck.
(the soap and water technique is the same technique used to apply window tints, so it's been tested extensively).

if you mix a drop or two of dish soap into a squirt bottle with water then spray the window and the sticker this will help with possitioning ,then use a good stiff squegee to push the water out from under the sticker, you will get a better end result, this is the way window tine is done a well as large decals on the sides of vehicles

I just make sure my windows are clean and then I apply the sticker. Have never used soap and water to move it around so I can't help you with that. But you do have to make sure the window is clean or it won't stick long.

Use rubbing alcohol, vinegar or soap and water. It doesn't matter as long as the window is clean and dry before you put a sticker on the window. (Of course, you should always use clean water when affixing a decal, if the instructions call for the decal to be wet). (Make sure you're not obstructing your view as you could get a summons).

make sure the window is not very dirty, if it is, clean it with soap and water but rinse thoroughly and then clean with alcohol. make sure it's aligned perfectly and stick a small edge on, then using a bondo paddle or a piece of rubber or something, use it to sweep across sticker that way it won't have any air bubbles in it.

Yes, but you run the risk of ruining the glue, sometimes it works. A better way, I have found is to MEASURE, MEASURE, MEASURE!! Its a PITA but it works everytime. Then take your time; start at one point and roll it on, making sure to work out the air bubbles as you go. If you should get an air bubble, a very fine pin will work to make a hole small enough to get the air off but not bee seen. Hope that helps.

yes, if you want a scummy residue left over once it dries.
don't use soap, use contact solution. It dries clear and allows the sticker to slide, kinda like a contact can slide over your eyes.
