My husband drives a two door company car in UK and has asked for a statement so that we can insure the car we are buying for ourselves. They have written that a claim was made against him because something thrown from this car hit a car behind us. To start with we do not throw things out of windows when driving, there is no roof rack, and the car is not missing any part. Looking at our calendar, the date was a Sunday when we were at home with our small grandchildren and did not go anywhere. Also the firm never informed us of this claim which was made over two years ago, nor did the police come to investigate our vehicle.
Surely one cannot claim against someone without their knowledge, otherwise anybody could take the number of a car on the road and accuse the occupants of throwing a projectile which damaged their car even though it is not true. I could understand if it were a truck or a van but not an ordinary car.
