Equalizer pipe/cross over "H" header. And 2 into 1 "Y" header. I need to put a header on my motorcycle. From what I understand there both good headers. Can anyone explain the pros and cons of these 2 header designs.Which one would you choose and why? Thanks...

The Y pipe will give you a better torque curve in your powerband. They maintain equal back pressure in both cylinders. The H pipes leaves each cylinder open. If there is a difference in pressure, you'll have a choppier torque curve.

You will have better performance and an increase in HP with the Y crossover pipe. It might not be very noticeable, but it does make a difference if you like to hit the twisties a lot.

Two into one exhaust header are proven on the dyno to produce more power than anyother design. They work by scavenging the oppsite chamber allowing for preloading of the cylinder. Did that help?

H is better for long stroke or a higher torque peak as the exhaust pulse helps scavenge the opposite cylinder during overlap [higher rpms limit the effectiveness] Y for max horsepower [typically narrows the torque band] works best at higher rpms.

It would be difficult to predict which type of pipe will work best on your bike because there are so many factors. For what its worth I prefer the look of the "Y" style pipe.
