OK, here's what I know from working at a Kenworth dealer. A salesman is offered a 'base pay' (for math sake let's say $1k a week) plus we'll say 10% comission. If he sells enough trucks to make his weekly base, but doesn't exceed it, then that's all he gets. If he sells more than his weekly base, he'll get his base plus the comission. Alot of auto dealers, however, operate on the 'honor' system...meaning if your base is 1k and you sell enough cars that your comission is only $900, then in theory, you owe the dealership $100 which may be deducted from your next base+comission check. You CAN make a killing selling cars & trucks, but as they say, "it can make you or break you"

They recieve a comission check every 2 weeks. Since the economy isnt so hot these days I would say the ave income is 4 grand. Usually its a percentage of the profit the dealership makes off the car. It varies a lot so it's really hard to say. My husband use to be a car salesman for toyota.

shoppers have no use for motor vehicle salesmen. My journey with them is they do no longer incredibly recognize something with reference to the motor vehicle they're merchandising. Ask them a question and that they are going to easily improvise the respond that they think of you what to pay attention. they do no longer seem to be there to assist the buyer in any way. they're there to cajole you that the motor vehicle is for you. they're there to sell you. they're knowledgeable to get you to concentration on the month-to-month charge mutually as distracting you from the fee and activity fee. The question- Can they actually do something for me that i could no longer do for myself? they do no longer seem to be there to do something for you, their purpose is to get your cash. they do no longer seem to be there to grant you a provider. Salesmen in maximum circumstances are to no longer help shoppers they're to sell a product. The asserting "he might desire to sell ice to eskimos" says all of it, salesmen sell you on something you otherwise does not purchase. Why no longer have a value for the motor vehicle, no video games, no having to good purchase the fee down? that's not comparable to this everywhere else we shop. They do this in order that as that they motor vehicle rip off the fewer experienced client for added. cooks and taxmen are doing a provider, very diverse, apples and oranges assessment. the main appropriate motor vehicle on your desires on the main appropriate fee will sell itself. no prefer for a con to cajole you to purchase the motor vehicle or any of the greater rubbish they're merchandising.
