This car has only 69,000 miles on it, but the owner had a friend replace the CA carburetor with a standard one. The car will not shift into 2nd gear until 31 MPH, & will not go into overdrive until it is up to 71 MPH. What do we have to change on it to get the transmission to shift properly?? THANKS
for your help. G&M

Hey, recently I picked up a 95 honda accord ex with about 192K miles on it for 5 grand total. Since I don't know that much about cars I looked it up in KBB and it was priced right so I bought it. Then I started realizing problems with it, the idle is kind of shot, theres some metal shavings in my transmission fluid so I'm starting to wonder how much life it has left. The timing belts were replaced twice and the ones on it are pretty new but it still makes a lot of noise on acceleration. I also have a small hole in the intermediate pipe on the exhaust, am I losing any power or mpg by that? I was told that I need to replace the boots on the two front bearings which I was quoted at about $230 to fix both. Was I better off without this car?

yesterday i stopped by a gas station and after fillin up my tank, i hit the bottom of my car twice on the edges of the sidewalk while trying to get out of the gas station. i somehow forgot for a moment, to go on the part that's lowered for cars to merge with the drive ways. haha
what could be the possible damages that ive done to the car? it wasnt a long, ear-irritating scratch sound but almost like a crash sound like "bang!".
i think it was most likeley the middle part (between the two tires), and back part. or front and middle.
and apparently theres no scratch on the bumpers.

I mean, I can understand the highway not being bad, but trying to get one of those around Main Street, in and out of parking lots and driveways...
it must be maddening.

Does anyone know Chevron's Car Wash Code? Or any gas station's touchless car wash code. I know it's not the best kind of car wash, BUT, I'm a busy person!

My oil pressure at a cold start hits around 40-60 then drops slowly after engine warms up to around 10-20. I removed the valve covers and cleaned the ports, dropped the oil pan and cleaned it out and upgraded to a high capicity oil pump. If the main bearings were worn, wouldn't there be some metal dust in the oil I drained? There is no engine noise other than the usual and I turned the motor over and watched the valves to make sure they were oiling. They were but not as well as they should have. Also, I changed the oil sending unit out for a manual guage. Is there anything else that could cause this besides the main bearings? I'm willing to accept that it may be the problem but I want to consider whatever else it might possibly be

The 4x4 damaged the rear end of my Rover 75, impossible to shut boot and lights not working. The garage and insurance now say it is not repairable. - but even after the accident, the car was driving perfectly. How much will the insurance company pay? Will they? Is there any way I can get the car fixed?
