First off how much white smoke is coming out?

The typical combustion process involves gasoline being converted into carbon dioxide and water vapor. If it's cold outside, you will see some white smoke and it won't be visible when the weather warms up

However, if you are seeing big plumes of white smoke out the back of your car it means radiator fluid is getting into the combustion chamber. The white smoke is actually steam as the radiator fluid is heated to the point where it becomes steam. Check your radiator fluid level, and also check your temperature gauge to see if the car is overheating.

It most likely means you've got a blown head gasket, cracked head, cracked block or warped heads. None of them is a good sign. The only way to fix this is by removing the head off the engine and inspecting the head, gasket and the block. It's not a small job and you'll probably need to take it to a shop to get it inspected.

Burning oil is dark blue smoke, you've seen it before, fogging the bugs. White smoke, alot is burning coolant. You would have a leak in a seal or a crack in the block somewhere that is allowing the coolant into the combustion chamber of the engine.

How to stop, take it to a mechanic, pretty deep job if you don't know what you're doing

White smoke means that you are definitely burning oil. either you have a major engine problem( rings, head gaskets or valves) or an exhaust problem , but something isn't right under the old hood. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
