I had the belt replaced that makes the alternator work about 2 months ago (Haven't driven it 500 miles). I was driving home from a convention yesterday and it broke- it was shredded- there was nothing there!!! Car was over heating, battery light on, the whole nine yards. Anyway- got the belt replaced and she's driving like a dream again. My question- How long do those belts last to begin with? and Should I go back to the folks who replaced it last time and give them an ear full? My husband has full intentions of doing that- but I want to make sure it's the right thing to do.

I am a college student and hopefully will be getting a new car next year. Currently I have a '95 Maxima. I am really eyeing the new Civic (2 door). My max price could barely accomodate the Si.

The problem is, I am not seeing the Si when I search inventories of dealers in my area. Is that car in high demand or do dealers have to order it?

I like the regular Civic coupe, but I don't think that the 140hp engine is enough for my driving style (I am not that aggressive, but I like power when I need it).

Any advice on the status of the new Si, or the Civic coupe vs. the Si? Thanks for any help.

2007 Honda Civic Sedan or 2007 Toyota Yaris Sedan?
Any pro's and con's for both would be great, too. I'm thinking the Yaris is cheaper but the Civic has more room inside.. thoughts?

I'm in the market for a new car, but I haven't decided on which make or model yet...there are quite a few to choose from!

My friend has a VW Golf and loves everything about it, except unfortunately she complains quite often about how the headlights and taillights are always going out. (I'm not sure if this is common or just her car?)

I want something reliable, will get good gas mileage, and won't cost alot if I need to take it to the shop. Is VW the way to go?

I was eyeing possibly the Jetta, Passat, or Beetle. Which of these do you like best and in which exterior color?

Thanks!! :)

I purchased a '01 Chevy Blazer about a month ago and I have been smelling really strong gas fumes. I took it to a mechanic that told me something was wrong with my exhaust return line...or something like that. I contacted the general manager who dismisses my complaints because I purchased "As Is." I was told that it is illegal to sell a vehicle that will not pass inspection, is this true?

Several months ago my Escape stranded me. It wouldn't start. I just got a clicking sound. I tried starting it repeatedly until someone came to get me. My hubby went back later that night to get the car and it started up fine for him. Now, yesterday it did it again. When I try to start it I get lights, radio, windows, etc. but it won't turn over, just clicks. Hubby gave me a jump and it took about 5 min before it would start. I drove it around for 15 min. and stopped at a store. When I went to leave, I got the clicks again. Hubby came and jumped me. It started right up. I drove it for 35 min and then went home. This morning I was once again greeted by clicking.

I have a friend who is a retired truck driver, he wants to buy a unit and own privately - a scania - and use it to travel around the country and maybe even abroad. Where would he go for insurance? And what other factors are there to consider. Any help would be much appreciated - thanks in advance.

that I show proof of my Dad's insurance on his own vehicle. They said if I don't, they must add him to mine. Why is that? He NEVER drives my car! He has no insurance, so I cant show proof. I think the company may drop me, so I am going to switch before they can. Does it look bad on your credit to be dropped or to switch for yourself? Also, someone said to avoid this at the next company, I need to say I live alone so they cant request anyone elses insurance info in my household. What do you advise me to do?

I live in Germany and I can use either the American gas which has an octane rating of 5 points less than what the Germans say it is. So premium gas on a military post says it has an octane rating of 90 while the same grade gas at the german pump says the octane rating is 95. Which number should I trust? My car's recommended gas is 95 octane! I am confused. I know both countries use different methods to calculate the octane ratings but I really want to get the most out of my 2.0T engine. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I'd like the convenience of a minivan, but without the high cost and poor mileage. What's a good alternative? I don't need lots of seating, but storage space is nice.

p.s. My cost and mileage preferences also rule out most SUVs.
