do we have to put up with all this crap about old british bikes having character? I want a bike to be solid, reliable, have good brakes and tyres to match handle with predictable prescision not break down every other lampost and drop oil like the exxon valdez on a bad day, go fast not have to treat it with kid gloves in case it breaks on the roadside.. a lot of you will say I just don't get it... really I don't want it...ok?

This lady asked me if I would give her a ride back and forth to work.
She lives about 20 minutes out of the way from my place to where I work. Which means Id have to get ready sooner as it takes me a half hour or better to get to work without going out of the way. It's also about 20 miles out of the way for me to go.
Please tell me what you think, I don't wana short-sell myself or overcharge this woman. Thanks.

I took my car in to be checked for a knock, one mechanic said the cam belt was about to snap which was causing it, and another said the cambelt was fine and it was just wear and tear on the engine. Who do I believe and is it time to get a new car as my cars only worth £500 anyway!!!

I have a '98 volvo S90, 2.9 ltr, with a 4speed automatic transmission. Last week I went to drive it, but it wouldn't shift up from first. First and reverse were the only gears that worked. It was fine one day and not the next, there was no warning, no funky noises or shifting glitches. The next time I drove it, it was fine. It shifted through all the gears normally. Could this have been a computer glitch that fixed itself? What could cause it to not work, and then work just fine? (the fluid level is correct)

Considering the state of emergency we are in regarding fuel resources, why are there more cars being manufatured now than ever before? Why does everybody seem blind to the fact?

Shouldn't there be more effort focused on alternate means of transport?

I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra and I've had this problem since I got it. It dies when I come to a stop sign and hit the brake and clutch. It was under warranty when I bought it and had it in to the dealer about 10 times and they weren't able to find or correct the problem. It happens at random, sometimes It will go days or weeks without it happening and other times it happens 5 or 6 times in a day. My questions are a) has anyone ever heard or dealt with a problem like this b) what was the solution and c) Even though my warranty has expired is the dealership still responsible to fix it because it was a preexisting condition. Any help would be appreciated.
