do we have to put up with all this crap about old british bikes having character? I want a bike to be solid, reliable, have good brakes and tyres to match handle with predictable prescision not break down every other lampost and drop oil like the exxon valdez on a bad day, go fast not have to treat it with kid gloves in case it breaks on the roadside.. a lot of you will say I just don't get it... really I don't want it...ok?

What are you talking about? We don't need more infighting.

Just enjoy your bike; if you have to put up with a bunch of people crowing about their bikes and putting yours down, just smile, nod and know that you've made the right choice for you, and that at least you're not as close-minded as they are....

having been around bikers for many a year; i have only known one to own a plastic bike such as yours if you wish to be a fair weather biker you have made the right choice. if on the other hand you are serious about biking? i suggest a course in not only mechanics; a well loved bike is a reliable bike, but also some lessons on how to handle a real machine

Not going to get pulled into an argument, but I have ridden Jap, Italian, American and British and found all to be enjoyable in their own right.

Its horses for courses, cant we all just pick on the white van man rather than each other?
