A friend just sent me this information and I have been thinking about replacing my old compact for a couple years though it still runs well as the gas mileage is lower than the newer ones. Have you seen the SmartCar, it's looks like a clown car but they get about 60 miles to the gallon. I don't think they are selling them in the US but we are only about 15 miles from the Canadian border and you can buy them up there. There are quite a few around here, in bright colors. The small one is a two-seater and they have a bigger one that holds 4. They run about $8,000, but I don't think the US will allow them a dealorship because they just don't use much gas.

It's just come back from the garage after having a leaking water coolant pipe replaced. On the way home the revs took ages to slow when I eased off the accelerator and dipped the clutch. By the end of the 20 minute journey it was racing so bad that I could pull away without touching the pedal.

I had my check engine light come on, and stay on, so I took it into Advanced Auto for a free diagnostic. The code said I had an emissions problem. The person at the store said it could either be a leak in the tube that carries the gas, or that the gas cap wasn't on tight enough. The test turned off the light.

We turned the gas cap again just to be sure. After a few days the check engine light came back on. I'd gotten a new gas cap, and well..the light stayed on. So we know it's not the gas cap.

My mother said she saw a little smoke out of the tail pipe when I was pulling out the car to drive it up the block and back to test it.

My aunt, who's helping me with the car, is waiting for someone to get off their vacation first. It's a guy she trusts. So, as soon as he gets back, I plan to have it checked on.

The oil is fine, according to the dip stick. My car is a
1999 Hyundai Elantra. Any ideas what else might be going on.

We have an older slide-in camper (Real Lite). We have a fitting that broke on the interior plumbing (between spigot and fresh water tank). Where do you suggest getting affordable replacement fittings or parts to replace the line between the tank and the spigot?

Can anyone tell me how many wires there is and where its connect to from the Tach? Its a 5 speed if that help.

My personal mechanic and a Toyota mechanic have both told me that there is a leak coming from the Power Steering Pump. For right now, it's not a big issue but over time it will become a big deal. Toyota told me that the pump itself is $349.00! Does that price sound about right or should I shop around elsewhere? Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Now, there seems to be rust forming on the metal part. How should I prevent the car to form more rust? I'm planning to fix it but don't have enough money yet since i have to paint 2 panels. Would I have to remove the present rust in order to prevent more rust from forming? I don't know what I should do.

Please let me know some ideas. Thanks.

I have spots of road tar on my vehicle, which regular car wash soap does not remove. I have been advised to use Goo Gone or Oops, but I am curious whether or not these products damage the clear coat finish in the process of removing the road tar? Anyone with experience or advice?
