20 years ago, I granted a deed of easement to an electrical company for a telegraph pole situated in my back garden.

I was paid a one off lump sum of money at the time and the peiod on the agreement was 20 years.

That 20 year peiod is now nearing its end.

I sold the house 7 years ago and have just received a solicitor's letter from the people I sold the house to asking me to pay them a fixed % of the amount originally paid to me for those years of the agreement that they have lived there and I have not - i.e. 7 years worth of the amount originally paid to me.

The payment received was a one off lump sum and not an annual fee.

Do they have any right to claim this money from me and do they have a case?

I have been summoned to small claims court - should I lawyer up?

All useful advice very gratefully received. The house is in Wales and therefore subject to the law of England & Wales.

Many thanks in advance.

I am sure there are also small houses/flats but still, here in Europe it´s almost impossible for a young couple to buy a house nowadays with 3 bedrooms (and really small bedrooms)..my husband and I are in our early thirties and all we can aspire is a small 3 bedroom flat. (like 80-90 square metres) we´ll have a mortgage of 30 years and it´ll be like 50 % of our incomes which is way too much of course...so what I am asking is how are things in the USA??

When I was 18 my mother got evicted from our apartment, and even though my name wasn't on the lease, I was evicted. Well now I'm 23 and trying to get an apartment with some friends, I've disputed the negative points on my credit score recently and am waiting for a response, but the application says they won't take any one with an eviction record. I have a reference from my previous land lord showing that I have 2 years of solid renting status and my two friends have good credit and combined we make close to 5 times the rent. Do I stand any chance getting this place? or will I be declined because of the eviction notice? P.S. the management company from the eviction place and the current apartment are the same so can they verify I wasn't on the lease?

How does a landlord accept tenant application? Does a landlord want user to just submit application directly and screen them later ? or does a landlord want to screen(non-formal, not credit report/background check) the tenant first before accepting application

Wouldn't the landlord want to accept as many application as possible?

My credit union wants to charge me $5,654 in closing costs to refinance my house for $200k. The house is worth more. I'm shocked! What are all these fees--origination, underwriting, processing, administration, preparation and "loan discount" and should I pay them? Why do they want prepaid interest when it is in the payments? Why reserve 2 mos insurance? The "estimated settlement charges" are $8,365--is that excessive?? Thanks anyone for any help. If I carry it myself and my son makes payments to me (he lives in the house but can't get his own loan yet) can I get a home equity loan any cheaper?

A mortgage broker quoted me a refi of $235K with adjustable rate loan at 1.2%, and the monthly payment can increase by only $77 per year. Does this sound too good to be true?

I live in a town home and its time for yr repairs, they sent general time frame about a month and came around and removed my siding from shed then after i called because nothing was being repaired i was told framing underneath was rotten and my responsibility. now in my association manual it says workers have the right to come on to property only after reasonable notice. no one contacted me before this work was done out side of a vague letter saying someone would be around for inspection for the yearly painting and carpentry work. now i have talked to the board and they seem to stand behind this being my responsibility and they are about to finish up for the year which is going to lead to them fining me for the shed and having it painted and charges till the work is done. i want to know can i and against who, the home owners association or the contractors they use, can i file trespassing charges and then take them to small claims court for amount to have repaired??? please help in VA

I can't get a roommate cause I have a 1&1/2 year old, and I don't trust ANY stranger around my son. I don't have any other family in this city, so it's just me and my son. I need to SELL the house...any suggestions? It's been listed for a month, and I've had one bite. My other bills are falling behind already.
