If you had a lease previosuly and did not renew the elase it may still have some wording which governs your stay beyond the lease. Sometimes lease agreements will have provisions for staying beyond the lease term on a month to month basis, and may stipulate a minimum notice that you must give the landlord. 30 days notice is fairly common in leases I have seen.

There may also be state or local laws that apply as well.

Yes, you are required to pay for the month of June, even if you only occupy the premises for one or two days in June. And I hope that you have given timely notice for your intent to vacate the premises. You would have to have done so before the end of May.

Not having a written lease does not relieve you of the requirement to give 30 days notice of intent to leave. If you have failed to give this notice, you may be held liable for July's rent as well.

If you paid the first AND last month's rent in advance when you rented the property, you don't pay the last month's rent for the month you move. Check your lease and make SURE that it included advance payment of both the first AND last month's rent AND that you didn't use it on the last month that the lease was in force.

If you didn't pay first AND last up front, you must pay for June on June 1st and vacate by June 30th.
