Why is paying half of your monthly mortgage payment in the middle of the month and the half at the end of the month cuts the amount of total interest & years to the mortgage? I did not think the mortgage calculator is the same as a CC calculator. Can some please clarify.

About a month before my 14 month lease was up, my boyfriend went into the leasing office and asked them if we needed to turn in a 30-day notice to let them know we'd be moving, they said no and that our last day would be the last day that is on the lease. We moved out on that date and turned in our keys. Well, 2 months later my boyfriend gets a call from a collections agency telling him that he owes the complex $2,486! Apparently, the lease states that we do have to give notice...a 60 day notice, and that because we hadn't...we were responsible for paying the past two months rent and late fees. During those two months, we were completely unaware that we were still being charged for the apt. I am not sure how these things are supposed to work...but shouldn't the leasing office tell you when you go in to turn in your keys that you need to give a 60 day notice first? Is there anything I can do to fight this?

One finance company merged/bought out the original finance company, and now neither company can find the clear title. What can I do... so far I'm just getting the runaround, and denied the loan.

My aunt was telling me when you buy your first house you should get the extended so you can consolidate all your debt/student loans. And by the time you sell it 3 to 5 years later you will build equity in the house so you will be able to pay off that extended loan. This sounds flaky (I know it all depends on the market and where you live). Has anyone done this? Tell me your experiences and what you think. What the best way to get rid of the debt.

I went to pay rent yesterday and gave 16 days notice. They want me to pay for the remainder of the other 14 days. I didn't pay them at all. I figure they can just have my deposit which is $300 less than 1 months rent. So, when rent is late and I get a 3 day pay or quit notice, I can just leave within 3 days right? Can they sue me for the balance? Can they put this in my credit report? Can they file an eviction?

Thanks.

In London all new houses are being built with this part buy/part rent scheme... i think these are great schemes because it is helping people who cant afford to buy their own property but would like to.

However, ive looked into and i think it is extremely unfair the way it works. The people who have priority are those in local authority houses and key workers.

Sorry but what about people who dont class as key workers have a steady full time job, and whose parents own their own house, who cant afford to buy a house/flat???
