In London all new houses are being built with this part buy/part rent scheme... i think these are great schemes because it is helping people who cant afford to buy their own property but would like to.

However, ive looked into and i think it is extremely unfair the way it works. The people who have priority are those in local authority houses and key workers.

Sorry but what about people who dont class as key workers have a steady full time job, and whose parents own their own house, who cant afford to buy a house/flat???

I know its very unfair.

Who they think of as key workers -teachers, doctors, nurses- are a very small group of people and whilst yes they need homes what about all the other people that make life work. What about the supermarket workers, newsagents, cleaners, bus drivers, secretaries, marketing people, etc etc ? They are as equally vital and without shops and businesses its hard for society to function.

However there is nothing to stop you applying to go on your local council's housing list - that will make you eligible to be considered for the schemes. Anyone can apply for the housing list - whatever your income, whatever your marital status.

To get on the list ring up your local council and say you want to go on the housing list, then fill in the forms and wait and see. If you're single and without children you are unlikely to be offered housing straight away (as councils have to allocate to these priority groups first) but you receive details of new housing developments which you can then apply for.

Good luck

You know it is a good thing when the polititions only allow themselves to benefit. This is another example of the rich get richer.
It would be nice to have the polititions watch out for the ordinary person. I always thought that was the way government was supposed to work. No wonder you never see a public figure have money problems.

Therefore there would be no need for the private sector, Then the council would have to turn into one leaving no concessions for anyone?

There is a way, but instead of focusing of why they can u cant , look for other avenues.

Whining is not the way?
