My husband is to start his new job in Philly. I am tryig to find out some information about the area. Do you know where will be the best place (in terms of best school district, safest and light traffic to Philly) to buy a house?
I heard surburban area, delaware and south Jersey.

I read and article that said many sub-prime lenders who lend to high credit risk consumers at increased interest rates are going out of business. I am just curious as to what happens to the loan when the lender goes "belly up."

and the vendor needs to finish some things off. We have had the offer accepted, survey completed and mortgage offer in place we are just waiting to complete.

What are my legal rights to ensure finishing touches are completed? (Eg the floorboards and banisters have to be varnished?)

Economists and bankers and estate agents can't agree on this so I want YOUR views. I think there might be a fall because there's so much debt around, and first-time buyers can't afford to buy, plus look at the US) and I'm thinking of selling up and renting. What do you lot think?

I moved in about a month ago. I paid a pro-rated fee and a month in advance. Now I'm being told that I have to pay a security deposit. When I first inquired about the apartment, I was told that I may not have to pay a deposit. Yet, when I was preparing to move in, they gave me a paper stating all the fees I had to pay and the section for security deposit is blank. It has a line drawn through it. I was told that I was not due to pay anything else until April 1st. I'm highly pissed right now. Now because I was one point from the score they required they want me to fork up $1210. Now why didn't they put that in my move in letter when I had to pay out almost $3000 to move in here. How can I fight this?

I am currently in a housing association bungalow.
I am up to date with all bills but when i try making enquiries i seem to come up against a wall of " all the money " that was spent converting my place. Any ideas ?

Our condo building is very nice, but the walls in the stairwell have gotten dirty over the last three years--the paint on the walls is a flat paint-basic that can't be cleaned by wiping the walls--the the thing is, we have no real association. It's a 12 condo big building with 6 units on each side. We mail our association fee in and have never spoken to the lady that the owner hired to run it.
What's the best way to get this issue addressed? The walls are REALLY getting filthy, and a neighbor spilled some sort of liquid all over the wall when she fell with groceries so now it's this big splotchy runny mess and it looks awful. I would be embarressed to have someone over looking at that climbing the stairwell.
Any one with experience in this area please answer

I have had a quick claim deed w/ my name as owner of the house going on 5 yrs. now. He originally put the loan in his name only because of my bad credit at the time. Now I have better credit and want to assume the loan so that when I decide to sell the house, I won't have to deal with him for the equity made frome the sale (which he is legally not intitled to any). It is a V.A. loan. He is in the U.S. military. I was told through the bank that all he needed to do was fill out the paperwork recieved from the V.A., transfering the loan over to me. I have informed him of this and he has not made one step towards it. Every time I remind him about getting it done he always says that he will get around to it and never does. I'm tired of waiting on him to handle this and want to know if there was a way that I could get it done without him scince I was awarded the house and have been paying the mortgage on it for the past 5yrs now? He told me that he doesn't think the V.A. will let him do it.

I came from CA where a "lodger" in a private home is not subject to eviction law.

I then stupidly created a handwritten agreement called a "roommate agreement" with some people to dwell in the top two floors of my house, a furnished sublet, which quickly descended into HELL, including hostility, door slamming, snuck-in pets and snuck-in occupants.

I thought my "roommate agreement" would be subject to the same 30 day notice and I put on it "until August 1st" which is a long five months away. I am a single woman with 2 younger males and 2 younger females, 2 of which are not on the agreement.

I am wondering what the best way to proceed is. I want out. Will a judge have mercy?

Thanks for any help.
