looking for a house to buy

2007-02-14 01:04:40 · 7 answers · asked by bender 3

i am in the process of buying my cottage flat from the council. About 3 months ago i recieved a letter from the right to buy section detailing how much they wanted me to pay annually for the service charge on the property. This amounted to £2600. i was furious. They detailed why i was to pay this however after looking at the documents i noted that the majority of the service charge was for the up keep of communal entrances, gardens etc. I wrote a letter back and asked them to reconsider the charge as most of it didn't apply to me as i do not have any communal areas. I got a phone call today saying they have reduced it to £1800. i still think this is way over the top but i have been told that they will not reduce the price. Can anyone advice me what to do next to dispute this. My friend lives in a flat with communal entrances, gardens and an elavator, yet his service charge is £1100 annually. its really putting a doubt on whether i should buy the propery.

We have just moved into a house (as tenants) and have discovered a lot of things that do not work or are unfinished. the worst thing is that when one of the showers is turned on it makes a noise like a train coming through my bedroom. The landlord refuses to admit there is a problem. Is there anything I can do?

I've asked my renters if they are interested in buying the loft they rent from me. They are interested. What is the easiest, most-cost effective way to handle this transaction?

If I am a real estate agent but I hire another agent to work for me as a buying or listing agent, by law, does that person has to split his/her commission to me? If so, how many % it should be? Thank you!

I live in southern California, we are renting a pretty high rent for something crappy in a crap area, well anyway, the only way they want us to pay our rent is using money orders or checks and sending it in the mail....We hae never not paid our rent and in Jaunary I called to see if they got our rent for January, they said no. I waited maybe 2 days and called again and they said I lost it and I am responsible....my husband and I only did what they ask and sent our January rent with a money order in the mail, I have the receipt as well. Ok, so I faxed the receipt to the properties and they are still blaming me and even charging us lates fees....I have called the place from where we got our money order, they told me it has not been cashed and I am working on a refund here. I feel that it is unfair to be blaming me and charging us late fees for something we paid for, it's not my fault it somehow got "lost" that is the only way they told us to pay our rent.

The complex has short term leasing available, but they are not offering that opportunity to us. Can they do that?

I thought we (me and two other friends) were signing a lease for the 06-07 year (note: im a college student and move around a lot), but i looked at the lease and we signed one for the last year dated for the period 8/05 to 7/06. I guess the people who lease us the house accidently wrote the wrong dates on the lease. Is it valid? We each signed the lease on 8/1/06, and with our signatures was that date. Could I legally move out and not pay the rest of the term's rent since the lease was not dated correctly? I'm not really looking to screw some people over, but just wondering.

If someone lives in an area where there is constantly bad weather, and their house keeps getting damaged, don't you think they would want to move somewhere else ?

I make 40,000 per year. I have basically no debt. My dti is 4.5% per month. I like in an area where home prices are cheap. I really want to buy a house for about 125,000. The payments with taxes and insurance will be around 950 per month, assuming I put 10% down, which I am going to do. I am in a prestigious job, so I expect my income to increase rapidly. What would you do if you were me? Should I buy the house? I will still have 7,000 in my emergency fund after the down payment and clsong costs, and approximately a 600 dollar cushion per month after all my budgeted expenses. I have heard all the rules about buying a house that is 2.5 times my income, but I think it might be wise to stretch a bit right now. Keep in mind the house I can get for 125,00 is 3 bed/2 bath/2 car garage, good neighborhood.......give me some advice????

When I lease out a parcel of land, and the company or person who leases from me builds a building on the leased land, and eventually they no longer want to renew the lease, who takes responsibility of the building?

I signed a 6 month lease with my landlord (it's an in-law in private house) and she decided to raise rent 13% two months after I moved in. She sent me an email about that with no advance warning whatsoever.

I actually found a new place that I like and would like to move out. Would I be able to move out in this situation?
Would she be able to sue me for remaining rent?

Thanks so much!
