I put a deposit down on a place I was planning on renting. I thought the landlord and I agreed that in one week I would move into the place and pay rent the first month's rent. One week is not over and now he wants to start showing the place to someone else b/c he wants someone in there now. What about the deposit I put down? Doesn't that mean anything?

I just wrote the last e-mail, about finding a rent check from last May. The renters are still in the house, from the answers I got the check may not be valid, but they still owe me for last May's rent--right?

Guys, I feel as if I have hit a brick wall. I own a rental property but these darn tenants have not been paying their rent. As a result, a payment arrangment that was made with my bank to bring my loan current wasn't met. The bank is now going to foreclose on my property on november 7th. What options do I have at this point. This has damaged my credit even further as it was reported on my credit report :"foreclosure initiated." I am in the process of evicting and trying to find someone to rent the place but I am afraid about refinancing cos I think my credit has been really destroyed to the point lenders will flat out deny. Are there any options I have at this point?

Guys,

I am moving from the bay area to southern cal on 10/24. I would like to start changing my mailing address now with the USPS. I have already changed my address individually with my company, medical, magazine, etc.

As for changing with the USPS...should I change as a single or family? My wife and I have different last names; she hasn't changed her last yet, still using her maiden name.

Any suggestions from recent movers would be awesome!

thanks!!!

I live in Colorado. I am currently renting a house. I just received a notice in the mail that the house I'm living in is being foreclosed on. Do I have any recourse against my landlords? Do I have to continue paying them?

My mother is currently renting a house. She hasn't paid this month's rent yet. Her breaker box is broken so she has no power, heat, anything in her home. Her landlord is refusing to fix it because she is late on her rent. Is this legal?

I am wanting to possibly buy a house , but would like to rent out a couple of rooms in trade for being able to afford a larger house with a better location. Do banks approve people for larger mortgages if the house is a partial rental, but also where I would live?

The doors are drafty. You can actually see all the way around the doors. Weather stripping doesn't work as the door frame and door aren't lined up because the house is sinking and lopsided.
Anyhow, I mentioned that I needed new doors because of the $400 a month heating bill in the winter. He LAUGHED and said that he remembered how drafty that house was. I told him that I have a newborn and don't want to spend all winter in a bedroom with a space heater and he said that he doesn't see any reason to fix the doors as I have lived there for over 2 years and know how cold it gets in the winter (I live in Minnesota). The door, if you don't lock it, even blows open sometimes with a firm wind. What do I do? I told him that if we don't new doors then we wouldn't be able to afford to live there with the high electric prices. HELP!

I will be graduating from University this next May and would like to buy a house, condo, or loft soon after. I will be living by myself, but could see renting out extra rooms if I buy a house. I will be making about 45-50k a year at first as I am an accounting major. I would like to live in Portland, OR. First of all, what would be the better bet to buy, a house or a condo? (I've heard condos aren't good to buy due to home owners fees and maintenence). Also, is it ok to buy my own place right away next summer, or should I wait? I would really like to have a place to call my own and renting seems like such a waste of money...

As I understand, normally before you shop around for the properties, you have to get a Mortgage Agreement in Principle. You'll bring this to the house agents and the buying procedures can begin.

However, a friend of mine said that I should be careful. Apparently, you should only get a morgage quote from ONE lender only. The more you go to different lenders, the worse your credit score will be. Is it true?

After I hear about this, I have been hesitant to go to a lender, because I think I need time to search for the best deals available.

He has lost checks before. Sometimes I re-write them and sometimes he just forgets about it because they were so long ago. We have the money, but it appears to be more of the principle of it. We're responsible enough to pay him, he should be responsible enough to not lose them. Even if he found it now, it wouldn't be valid because it is over 90 days old. He now wants us to re-write a check that was dated 6/28. Do we have to??

consider a normal residential mortgage for me if I run a cattery from my back garden. Lots of lenders have said they will only do a commercial loan.
