Sometimes credit card companies send you a preapproved card & all you need to do is call the 800# & punch in the account number on the card to activate it, they are usually automated & dont require any info like social, or birth date or anything...my question is, couldnt someone just snatch that right out of the garbage, activate it themself & use it?

My balance will be paid within a month and someone says as long as it gets paid quickly then it won't hurt my credit. Is that true

Before you all pass judgement... My father-in-law is going through a divorce and he cosigned a camper loan with his wife three years ago. It is a 12 year loan, and she is refusing to make payments on it hoping to ruin his credit (even though she is the primary). He has been making the payments, but is ready to let it go. So, if he were to stop paying it, is there a website that we can go to in order to find out exactly how many points it will lower his credit score?

Someone set up an ACH withdrawl from my checking account to pay for a Discover card. I don't even own a discover card. I had the account closed and the bank is looking into it. But I didn't get the feeling they would actively pursure the individual. The amount was only $210, so I'm sure they see much larger issues. I tried Discover, but of course they would not disclose any info. Are there other methods to investigate this? It's not so much the money, becasue the bank will credit that back. But I want the person to know he/she is being watched and hopefully deter them from trying to access my info or anyone elses again.

I need to transfer my credits and the college says I owe them 150.00 from like 8 years ago. I was wondering how long they have to collect it? They will not release my transcript without the 150.00 (I think thats why they want the 150.00 because they know I need the transcript)

that they had already sent one to my address. I honestly do not recall seeing one from them. I want to send them a Validation of Debt letter but would that be wise considering that they only called me about it? They did give me the account number. Should I send the Validation of Debt anyway?

I got a credit card, and when I did it asked if I wanted to get another one for someone else....like me and them share same account ,we just have our own card. So I got one for my sister. Now we both have our own card, same card number though, so my question is, If the card gets maxed out, will this affect just my credit or both of our credit?

Can someone find me a list of credit cards that don't make a hard inquiry when they review your application? Maybe one that would just check my w-2 and current pay stub and even take a copy of my credit report? Thanks for your time.

If we don't want to receive truckloads of pre-approved and unsolicited credit card offers why do we have to "OPT-OUT" of the credit bureaus, instead of the other way around. That is we would have to specifically "OPT-IN" to receive this kind of junk mail or telemarketing.

After all these pre-approved credit card offers endanger a person and makes it easy for his/her identity (and money) to be stolen.

Due to previous relationships and bad choices, my husband and I are dealing with really poor credit. I have ordered copies of all three credit reports and to be honest it is overwhelming. We both have old accounts on file that have been charged off and closed as well as some that just show as deliquent. Where do we start? Is it better to start with the most recent items and tackle those? Does a paid Charge off reflect better than the charge off itself? Do items ever really fall off after 7 years? I'm overwhelmed but want to do the right thing. Any advice you can offer would be great!

Thanks in advance!

I'm buying my house and land from an individual who is carrying the note for me so no bank or finance company is involved. So far I have made 39 payments without any problems, always paid early, never even one day late. Is there any way an individual can report good credit habits to a credit reporting agency?

Thanks In Advance,,,
