I need to transfer my credits and the college says I owe them 150.00 from like 8 years ago. I was wondering how long they have to collect it? They will not release my transcript without the 150.00 (I think thats why they want the 150.00 because they know I need the transcript)

If you need the transcripts, and I think you do, they have you over a barrel. Do you want to joust with windmills?

Give them the 150, and don't mess up your credit report.

How long to collect it? Well, they have forever, because if you don't give them the cash, they don't give you your transcripts. Legal or not, they do have you over a barrel.

While there is a Statute of Limitations (SOL) which is the time frame to bring lawsuit, they can follow you to the grave trying to collect. Pay the money.
