I just read about the Fair Credit Reporting Act and how delinquencies that are older than 7 years should not be on my report. But there are several that are 8, 9, 10 years old that are still on my report. How can I get these items removed? I was shocked to find them on there because I didn't think they were on there anymore or still affecting my credit score, but they are.

I have a credit card with $9,000 on it (none available). It is closed, i am working on getting it paid off. I just got qualified for a credit card worth $2,000 that has 0% balance transfer for 18 months. Would it be paid off faster if i move 2,000 of the 9,000 to a second card since there is no interest and have 2 cards.. or just continue paying on the 9,000 card?

i would end up having:
card 1: $2,000 no interest
card 2: $7,000 yes interest

or leave it as:
card 1: 9,000 yes interest

if the better way would be get the second no interest card, would my monthly payment be about the same that it is with 1 card or more per month? unforunately i just had a baby and am not able to much more than my minimum payment either way

A friend of mine has unpaid credit card loans. This happened 5 years ago. He was not able and can no longer repay the credit cards Company. I believe he accumulated $10,000.00 in debt. What will happen to him? Will he go to jail? I know he has bad credit. He became sick then and his family made him go to the Philippines so they can take care of him. This all happened in California. Thanks

He also had puchased this home before we were married. Also the SOL had probably run out on this debt before we were married.

I have a credit care that I have paid off, but kept in case of emergency. I got my credit checked today to apply for a loan, and apparently my card has, in fact, been active. I havent used it in more then a month, but accoridng to my online statement it has! From march to now, the monthly transactions have been from a bit more then $50 in march, then up and down around 30-40. Its a low limit card ($500) that is currently just a bit over the limit. I also went to check where the statements are getting sent, because they arent coming here, and it says its not available...but I was able to before I have changed my address on it when I had moved!
Will I be charged since I dont have identity theft protection? What should I do? Who do I call and what should I say? I'm freaking out right now!

I have a Bank of America Visa card with a moderate balance (mostly wedding-related costs).

Recently, I got a letter stating unless I protested - in writing - my default interest rate would go up to 32.5% - obviously I protested in writing, which meant I could no longer use my card (not an issue since I stopped using it a while ago).

This past month, I made a late payment (thanks to that wonderful roaming due date - obviously my fault - but is it my fault for not checking my invoice, or for assuming my payment date should always be relatively the same?), and they kicked my interest rate up from 18% to 32.5%, their "Prime" rate.
My minimum payment went from $100 to $210 - PLUS a $39 late fee. They said the rate stays that way for six months of on-time payments.

Total late fee: $709 over the six month period.

I'm leining my car's title to a credit union for 8% interest and 10-day grace periods.

Do they really expect people to put up with this crap?

I purchased a vehicle last year for $30,000. I also had about $8,000 in debt in credit cards. I thought that by purchasing the vehicle my credit score would shoot up. I make all my payments on time. And I try to pay more than the minimum payment. I checked my credit score about 2 days ago and it actually went down from 697 to 536. I dont know what happend. I checked my credit report and I dont have any delinquencies or negative reports. I'm 21 and currently I have 7 credit cards. They are all maxed out. i payed 2 off and I closed those accounts. I'm about to pay 2 more off. What am I doing wrong? I dont use the credit cards anymore. I'm paying them off. I work 2 jobs. Any advice will help me. Thanks!

I live in Boston, MA. I was wondering do anyone know any credit card company that will offer me a line of credit for a car loan. I need about 19,000/k. Which I will pay of in 48months.
If there is a way to do this. I have bad credit and will think having a car loan will be a great way for me to rebuild my credit.

credit. Could purchasing a house cash for $30,000 be a means of establishing the company credit? And if I wanted to refinance, would a bank approve my company for a loan? I have a credit score of 600, but the company will be purchasing the property in cash, not me.

After going through a divorce almost 4 years ago, I stopped paying on at least 4 or 5 credit cards. I've never paid a dime since, and they have killed my credit.

If I offer a settlement with each one individually, what are the chances they will accept? What percent of the original debt would be good offer?

Also, if they accept the settlement, will it be removed from my credit, and my rating go back up? The damage has already been done, so I really don't want to go this route if it is not going to help. In a few years it should be gone from my report anyway, I think.

Any suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated as I realize this was one of the worst mistakes I ever made in my life.

Are there any good credit/debt internet forums out there?
