If you have bad credit, and high rates, it is probably because of the credit cards. Get away from the credit cards!!! If you are in too far, and taking convenience checks on a monthly basis because you cannot afford the rates, go to credit counseling. They will negotiate lower rates, and a fixed payment schedule.

If your credit is bad, you will only be able to get high interest cards. Gas credit cards are always high interest rate.

Work on clearing up your negatives and establish a good, on time payment record. Your score will improve and perhaps you'll qualify for a card with a better interest rate.

I think that Bank of America is a good card. I used to have Capitol One, but they raised my rates from 9.9 to 17.9 overnight. I called Capitol One and complained, and I got a dip stick woman who said that my card was singled out for increased rates.
I told her that I would cancel my card with them, and she said that was fine. I contacted Bank of America, and asked if I could change to them, and they said sure. The rest is history.
Bank of America's minimum monthly fee, so far, has only been $15.
