I recently asked for a debt validation on a charged off account and have previously disputed it with CRA's and still state it's valid. What I wanted to pin point was the date of delinquency and amount said paid on last payment. Wrote a debt validation letter sent certified. Got a response from the company stating that the information I want is "frivolous" according to Federal regulations because I have failed to prove sufficient information. Letter claims I seem to be working with a Credit Repair Agency, which I have not been and claim the money I am giving them could go to settling the debt. HAHAHA. Just trying to validate the supposed amount owed and who owns it, since Ive been getting collection notices from some other company. ANYONE WITH SOLID ADVICE?

I just moved the balances from about 6 credit cards to one card where I have 6 months of zero interest rate. I have about $6,000 to pay off. My question is will the consolidation ALONE have any effect on my score? Meaning before I start paying down the debt?

I do owe that much about $600. and have plantry available credit on my cards, but I want to buy a house in about 6 months. I was told that if I pay them off and do not charge that it will lower my points which are around 680.

I think I read somewhere that it hurts your credit to cancel a credit card after paying off your balance. Is that true or am I better off canceling the card?

I got a letter from a firm called Cohen and Slamowtiz on a debt. I don't want to deal with them, and would rather have them send the case back to Discover Card. Would a "cease and desist" letter work in this instance? Or would they simply stop contacting me and get a judgement against me instead? Is it also a good idea to include the cease and desist within the "letter of Validation"?

i just signed a contract with a debt consolidator and they are supposedly saving me 60 bucks a month but when i looked at my account i noticed that what they were paying out didn't add up to what i was paying them. the only reason i went with this company is because they are non-profit so i called and complained and discovered that they are charging me 45 dollars a month as a service fee. but the service fee can't be for the paperwork because the first month they charged extra to get the paperwork together. is this normal or is there something wrong with this?? should i cancel my account with them or are they being honest?? remember they told me they are non-profit....

I sent in for a credit card offer I got in the mail and then changed my mind. The card came in the mail. If I cut it up and don't activate it, will the account still exist? Do I have to call and cancel it even though I haven't activated it?

My neighbor was left a message by my creditor and he is not on my accounts or has been used as reference at all.

Is this considered harassment?

I know that charged off credit cards will fall off your credit after 7 years... my question is... from what date do they go by? Is the date of last payment or the date it was charged off?

i have an orchard bank credit card, that ive had for about a year, when they checked my history they found that ive never had a late payment with this credit card and that my credit score is above 700. they decided to hike up my intrest rate from 9% to 29% intrest with out a clear reason why. They told me the reason why is because (1.) its based on your credit score to date, and (2.) based on any other credit cards (History) that you happen to have. ok... for the 1st reason- my credit score is above 700, i had a lower credit score when i 1st got the card at 9% intrest, so that cancells that out. so..... for the 2nd reason- i read that they cannot, like its agaisnt U.S. policies to raise my credit score based on other credit cards or accounts that i happen to have. but ive never.. let me say that agiain, never. had a late payment on any of my accounts that ive ever had. (im kind of a credit freak) so why would they hike my intrest?

I want to shop for the best (lowest) rate. My credit score is 800+ but I am told I have to allow my credit to be "run" in order to "quote" most rates. Does running credit lower a credit score, or is this subjective and based on interpretation?

Eq790/TU 809/EX794 NO Inq's in past 11 Months. My current credit limits on "ALL" cards is 195k and I want 450K by next year. I have exhausted Amex (5 cards), BOA, CHASE, Citi, US BANK, PenFed, Juniper...HSBC (crappy cards BTW) etc.
I only have one credit union PenFed...and I'm thinking that maybe the way to go. I currently have zero balances on all cards, I usually PIF unless it's a 0% for a appliance or the something like that. 2 Cars paid, home is worth 460k with a $50k mortage.

any suggestions??

note: Not interested in store cards, I have JcPenny, BestBuy, Home Depot, Lowes, HHGregg....and numerous more...the credit mix (10%) is in good shape

I'm wondering if debt consolidation loans bring down your credit score? Also are you required to close the credit cards you pay off with the consolidation line of credit?

i went into a used car dealership. Mind you, this is a big name dealer with a good reputation. They ran my credit and told me okay we found a bank that will approve you for $14,000. I said great! went out into the lot, found a car i LOVE and said thats the one. The salesman and finance manager drew up papers as to how much it would cost etc... but they didnt give me the loan papers right then and there because supposedly the bank was now closed and ill have to go back monday to sign the loan docs and find out what my payments would be. In the meantime he had me sign off on other docs just from the dealer, not the lender and said if i can provide proof of insurance i can drive it off today. I did just that and Saturday evening, i drove home in my new car!
Well today during my lunch hour i went back to sign the rest of the docs and they tell me...oops, sorry the bank is now only approving you for 8000 so youll have to come up with an extra 5 grand if not, i have to give the car back!

I had a judgement from a credit card and filed bankruptcy 2 years later. The bankruptcy included the account and stated there was a judgement as well, yet 7 years since having my bankruptcy discharged this judgement is still showing up on my credit. Everytime I try to purchase anything, I have to fax my bankruptcy paperwork showing this was included. But now that I am trying to refinance a morgage on my house, they may not be able to do it because of this judgement. I am faxing (yet again) a copy of the final paperwork, but I wonder if the judgement is infact still there. I thought that if they required us to pay it would have to be paid prior to them discharging our bankruptcy and since no one said we had to pay them I just assumed it was included.
