I believe that it won't affect her credit.. If she is not on the auto loan, how would they be able to trace it back to her? Just because he got the loan and didn't pay, I don't think that she should suffer if she didn't legally sign and take responsiblility for that loan. I would call the car dealership or loan company and just ask them.

She should be able to get an apartment at 18, but she may need a co-signer if she doesn't have any credit.

Isn't 18 wonderful!!! Mom and Dad were right weren't they?
Yes I believe this will affect her credit.
Your sister is way to young to be married. It might be a good idea to explore the idea of single motherhood. Good luck and remember the child is the most important thing

I agree with Brie, since her name is not on the title or loan docs, she isn't responsible.

She should keep an eye on her credit reports to make sure they don't try to slip it on them. If they do, she should dispute them as "never having that account in her name"

She can get her once a year free credit reports from the FTC site annualcreditreport.com

She also has a right to a free report whenever she is denied credit from whichever CRA was pulled by the creditor who denied her.

Auto finance is what I do for a living and the only way I can think of is if they live in a community property State.

There are only 9, AZ, CA, ID, LA, NM, NV, TX, WA & WI.
