As you may or may not know currently, putting some one your account as an authorized user will increase that persons FICO score. (You are using the history of some one else).

I have heard that starting next month that this is no longer going to be the case? How true is that? What is the deal here? A person will be put on as authorized user but his or her FICO will not go up? When will this take effect? If some one is already an authorized user are they grand fathered in or will their FICO go down?

Lastly, I have been told that if the people do not have the same last name or it can not be proved that they are related that they will be invistigated for fraud(?) How true is that?

Please help!

I think it is good for people to know that even if they are deep in debt they can get out of debt if they work hard at it, and know that others have and are doing it. Once upon a time, our family had 30K in credit card debt and now we are down to 8K. We plan to have it all paid off in 18 months. How about you?

In 2004 , I was admitted to the ER in another state and then stayed in the hospital for 2 days. I had health insurance , but I was surprised with 2 collection accounts in 2005 (from the
hospital and an Xray doctor).
The major surprise is NOW. After about 3.5 yrs , I see a major derogatory new account on my credit report for a bill sent by a physician in this ER and of course reported by a collection agency, The amount reported is about $460!!
I spoke with the collection agency and I told them I didn't know about it but they were extremely not cooperative.

How can I remove this collection form credit report ?
I understand that I may have to pay it(Although I didn't authorize it ! ) but I want to make sure that it is totally removed form my credit report as a derogatory account after that.
Please advise...

Is it better to go through a Credit Union or a Regular Bank for a auto loan? The APR is the same and the monthly payment would be the same. Does your credit score benefit more from the regual bank?

I am in the same situation as many people I make enough money but still somehow have none let over for cushioning

Auto-$442
Insurance- $127
Rent-$733
Cell-$60
Cable-$35
Home Phone-Basic Service-$10
Gas-$40 week
PGE (Gas and Electric)-$20
Credit card (consolidation program)- $256

I make $1200 a paycheck (two times a month) and am still constantly overdrawing my account to pay my expenses causing my next check to be 1200-the overdrawn amount.

Any suggestions are welcomed

-I would also like to add that I discontinued cable
-My car insurance is with AAA and is higher than normal because of an no-fault accident in 2005
-Although my car payment is high it's because at the time I had bad credit (score of 599)-I am not sure if I can refinance

From what you know where can I save

I have an account on my cred. report. Last date of activity was October 2002. It is listed under the collections area of my report - and it is listed as a 'current delinquency'. I get a phone call from the creditor about twice a year, and a letter once a year. This all happened after a bout of unemployment.

I was told that my creditor can keep it on my report indefinitely. Then someone else told me that it must 'fall-off' 7 years after the LDoA.

Whose right? My question also is: what is the average time a collections agency will use to take you to court for amounts owed in the hopes of getting a judgement against you (it has been at the same agency for almost 1 year and a half)? Monies owed total is almost $7k, through research I have found that this particular company pay about 8-10 cents on the dollar...(if that makes a difference).

I would rather give my money to a charity...but that won't help my credit score. Will paying off this debt help?

I am a responsible person with excellent credit. My employer accidentally didn't auto-deposit my check and I wrote out my bills like usual because I didn't know this at the time. My credit card payment bounced and my Chase/Bank One APR went from 8% to 30%.

My employer won't write to Chase/Bank One to verify they accidentally didn't auto-deposit and Chase/Bank One won't change this for 8-10 months.

I can change this over to another card but I wanted to know if there's any recourse for this using a non-profit service or federal credit counseling. I'm more upset that I have been a Chase/Bank One customer for most of my life with excellent credit and they would do this to a person for 1 problem.

I understand legally they have the right but is there any other way to report this since they are not willing to work with me on this?

I received an offer in the mail for a settlement on an old credit card debt. It's almost 10 years old. Do these fall off of a credit report or should I pay it? I cannot find any information as a guideline for what I should do. Any sites for information would be greatly appreciated!

I received a letter at my mom's house saying that I have to appear in court next week for an old credit card debt from Filene's or I will be arrested because there is now a warrent for my arrest. When I was only 17 they mailed me this credit card in the mail and allowed me to activate it without ever checking my age. Now, I am 25 years old working two jobs to take care of a 3 year old all by myself who has Autism. Can I use the fact I was a minor when the card was issued to get out of this debt? How can I prove it?

We have about $30k in equity on our home, and currently have a 30 yr fixed at 6.9%. I'm not sure if refinancing will help or hurt us. My student loans are at 7.22, but I only owe another $3500, and my auto is 1.9% and I owe about $6500. I thought about paying those off with the cash from the refi - is that a bad idea since the auto loan is at a lower rate? I thought since the mortgage interest is a tax right off and the auto loan isnt...?

If we aren't sure how long we'll be in this house, is refi a bad idea?

I'm pretty confused about this - any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had an unsecured credit card for over 7 years; however, after we moved, I've been unable to pay anything on this account since 2003.
Out of the blue I received a summons to appear in court from a collection attorney who claims I owe a whole different co. than the original one. I could not afford an attorney of my own, & from what I understand, an unsecured credit card in Tx. statute of limitations is 3 yrs.
I filed a written answer to the court. Since that time, the collection attorney has requested a continuance 3 times, in order to come up with significant documentation that I owe this amount. I have a signed paper from the judge that the case was continued; However, I received a letter from the collection attorney yesterday claiming the court convened & judgement was ruled against me. Also that I have non exempt property they are going to seize, & that I have to respond in 10 days to work out a payment arrangement.
Should I answer them, or go to the real court date?

If I were to get a 2nd credit card will this help my credit at all or make no difference? I wouldn't use it that much, I'm just curious if it would make a difference. Thanks!
