Does anyone know if there is any recourse you can take toward the establishments that let someone use stolen credit cards without checking I.D.

with my credit ever since I paid off all my debts and closed the accounts last year, including my mortage with my inheratence from my dad's passing. My credit score has not improved since I closed these accounts. In fact, my credit score is actually lower than it was before I started. I've had no negative credit problems - I was just tired of being in debt. What is happening? Please help me improve my credit. .

My husband and I are looking to start monitoring our credit and we are looking for a safe, reputable website that gives your credit scores and credit reports for a decent price. We are going to buy a house in December and our bank (Bank of America) told us to make sure that everything is accurate on our credit reports before they pull it. Any suggestions???

Need to refi before rate starts adjusting next Jan. but I need a better FICO score to get a decent rate. If I throw every available $ at debt is this enough to bring up score significantly?

When you have paid off everything on the credit report completely? Will the items that were previously on collection disappear after awhile or not?

If so, how long usually? If not will they stay there forever?

Even though I have already paid off that specific creditor completely.

I was recently (two months) denied by citi credit card. I want some credit cards to pay my school. What is the best card to apply in this situation. BOA and capital one arent increasing my limit soon I guess although I always pay the full balance in time. So guys please suggest me some ways so that I can get a card with at least 2500 -3000 credit limit.
Which card to apply next and when?

Thank you in advance.

Over the past several months, YA has been a huge help to me in fixing major credit problems I have had. I have been working very hard at dealing with creditors on old in-collection debts. Now that I'm almost done with paying them off, I get a "Pre-Approved" credit card offer in the mail from First Premier Bank, which specializes in people with "less than perfect credit." Because I'm older, my fear has been that it will be incredibly hard for me to get credit again, so I'm curious if this would be good or bad for me to take advantage of. It definitely says that I am "Pre-Approved", so should I go ahead and get this card so I can use it to begin rebuilding my credit rating? I wouldn't bother with it at all, except for the words "Pre-Approved". NO, I do NOT want to go out and start charging - I just want to be able to have it to rebuild my credit rating. There are some fees tacked onto it, but I thought I would send this question out there to see what people's thoughts are. Thanks

They send me a pre-approval. I go online and enter the code. They say "I'm sorry but we can't extend you credit at this time." Why are they sending me all these pre-approval things if I'm not approved?? Grrr!!

I know some people tell me that the best way is to get a credit card or gas card, but how would i know which one to get and how do they do the billing?? I am really confused?? Please help!!

I think the question is pretty straightforward. Would lying about age on an application work? This is assuming that the card would be used responsibly.

In 2000 I got really sick & almost died & wracked up some big dr bills. I went to declare bankruptcy in 2001 & my attorney said we'd settle so we did. I gave him all my bills. A few dr's never contacted me so I didn't have their bills to give him. They didn't contact me for like 5-6 years until recently I was working on my credit report & I'm sure they saw that. Now they say I owe them all that interest & I have asked the collections agency only for copies of when they have contacted me as I feel it is unfair to charge me for something I didn't know about. I was too sick to search out all the 1000's of bills but I did honestly turn in all to the tune of $38000 & my family paid them off. But why don't they have to send me copies of when they contacted me ? They said now they are preparing a lawsuit & the interest is $100 and the bill is $360 principal, I have figured out it will cost me more to pay my attorney to check it out than to pay the interest, but I am still very poor ???

We are looking to buy a house soon. I received notice from myfico.com that my score had increased 65 points!!! Not sure why unless some stuff fell off. Anyway, my new score is 667 so I asked my mortgage guy to take a look to see if we could get approved for 100% financing. He said that he's not showing that score at all, but closer to 600 - 615 for all three scores. I don't understand why I see it on fico.com but he can't see it. Any explanation?

I understand that a person has three very different scores, but he's not showing the 667 at all on any of them.

I have 2 credit cards. One is secured with a limit of $200 which was how much I deposited when I opened it, and the other card is a regular card with $300 limit. I spend about 30-50% of my limit then pay off in full each month.

Are two cards enough or would a third card help build my credit faster? Also do you think I should increase my $200 limit higher? Will this be better for my credit?

Thanks!

I have been trying to apply for the past couple years at various places like, Walmart, Target, Dillards, Macy's, Best Buy, couple of gas credit cards and even local furniture stores. They all turn me down because I dont have any credit information. I'm 24 yrs old and I know 18 year olds who have credit cards and loans on cars. WTF?! And I dont want to do one of those secured card deals. According to my friend's boyfriend I am considered a "ghost" when it comes to credit. I ran my credit through Equifax, Experian and some other big one and they don't have any record. Just my name and former addresses. No credit score, nothing! I dont have bad credit, I have NO credit. Any suggestions?
