Does anyone know of a multiple interest rate credit card calculator? I have one credit card, with two interest rates. One rate is for balance transfers the other is for actual purchases (yes I'm working on getting that changed to just one rate for everything, but I'm not there yet). Is there a calculator out there that allows me to put in the amount charged to one rate, the rate, and the amount charged to the second rate and the second rate, then tell me based on that and my payment amount how long it will take me to pay off my credit card?

My husband and I were trying to get our finances in order to purchase a house in the next 6 months. We are paying off a few small loans, all totaling around $4000 and we were going to save $1000 to have in savings just to show financial security. Now I'm worried that if we wait 6 months, we won't be able to get a mortgage loan. You see, we filed for Ch. 7 bk 4 years ago. We have one situation on our credit where late payments show up, but this was a car that we sold to someone else who was paying the payments. We have proof, via the contract and bank statements, that we weren't responsible. I was told that should do the trick for those late payments. Other than that, we have not had any in the past 4 years. My credit score is around 630 and my husbands around 600. On one hand I believe that this sub prime bust will lower home costs and be good for us, but on the other I have to wonder whether we'll even qualify. Help!

I was able to get one credit card a while back soon thereafter filing and kept paying off the balance each month. Recently put on permanent disability so my income is set and very limited so I can only pay X amount each month and now have found myself at the cards limit beacause the interest rate is so astronomical that any payments I make only about $50 goes to prinicipal. I've applied for other cards that offer 0% for a year hoping to be able to transfer my balance so the payments might actually make a dent. Unfortunately every application has come back denied due to (1) insufficient income and (2) filed bankruptcy in 2000. This sucks and I feel totally screwed and stuck, any feasible ideas would be much appreciated.

I have read if your credit card provider uses the universal default clause in your service agreement they can raise your rates even if you pay a bill late that is unrelated to the credit they are extending to you. This would mean if were late in paying a telephone or power bill late your rates could jump as high as 30%. I can see the increase for people who are frequently late but it seems excessive for those who are not. It also seem pretty close to loan sharking to me.

Just read about this sneaky thing the cc companies use. Anyone know how to check if you have it on your cards? I have one card charging me 35% and I am a good customer, but was late 2 times during an illness and family emergency.

I'm about to pay off four of the seven cards I have and I've read that closing them after paying them off can hurt my credit score. But I've also read that it may be better to keep them open with a zero balance. Can anyone provide some insight?

Believe or not-- I am in debt about $30,000 credit card only- and finally divorced the guy who helped raked up the bills. I consolidated today the three cards for a interst rate of 13 fixed to keep my monthly payments below $600 total. Was that smart or not? Before that I paid $700/month and wiithout using the cards ever, my balances only went down--about$200 toal a month. The bak I went with told me I will be debt free in 6 years, before that I estimated debt free in 15 years.

My credit is not so good (it's not too horrible 'cause I just got approved for a credit card but only a $300 limit) but I have some outstanding debts and right now I have a credit card that has about $6000 and the interest is so high that I can not keep up with it, how can I pay it off, will I be able to get a loan? Do I have any other options? I do not want to file for bankruptcy, my credit is not good but it's not horrible either?

I don't mind passing on the message, but what I'm really curious about is how they got MY number.

* I got this number after we seperated if not after the
divorce was final.

* While we live in the same state - we live in different
towns and they know where she lives.

There are only two things I can think of as to how they got my number:

1) Obviously, someone gave them my number (possibly to avoid these calls?).

2) I rented their house off of them when they moved out of town. Assuming they even had her previous address - could they have traced the numbers for that address not realizing that the town they live in has a different prefix.

Just thought maybe someone on her may have worked for a collection agency and had some experience w/this. Any thoughts?

It seems like everybody is tight with money, and are willing to let people sit in the sidelines waiting for their due rewards.

Is it the squeaky wheel that gets the grease?

Ok its not for me before you say anything! My friend met this guy on the net, they chatted for ages etc the same old.. they havent met face to face yet, he works as a lawyer, has his own firm (which is a definite not something he made up!) He has sent her 3 bankers drafts in total, 5k, then another 2? She has put the money in her account and has had no probs so far, and he said it is because he is in a situation that he can help her and knows it makes a difference to her. She said she asked what the catch was joking, and he said nothing I just want to help you??? I am worried that she is going to end up in debt if he wants this money back.

I have a very very large balance on one of my credit cards, and paying it off wouldn't take so long or be so hard on- but my apr is 25.49%!So at this rate it'll take me about 6 years to pay it off. I called to see if they could lower my interest rate, but they said I wasn't eligible. My credit score is pretty good too. If I get a loan to pay it off and have fixed payments for the loan over 3 or 4 years, will that hurt my credit score?

I am just a couple years out of college, and ran into financial troubles a year ago that really messed up my credit. Now, a year later, my score is back up to 620--which obviously still needs a lot of improvement. What are the fastest ways to get my score up, and how long might it possibly take to reach 700 or higher? I have one major credit card that is paid off but still open, along with 4 store credit cards with about a $300 balance on each (not near credit limits). I have a car, but my mom cosigned with me on that. Any advice would be appreciated!

I was wondering what I should do. My situation is this I have bad credit and have not been able to obtain a credit card for the last 10 years as i have tried. I have now two car payments because 1 additional car payment is deleted due to the fact that they came and repo it last week. I have a house payment and utilities, groceries and gas I still have to worry about monthly. I hve had a large paycut from $60,000 a year to just little under $700.00 a month now. I also owe $30,000 in taxes. do you have any suggestions on how i might get out of this problem without having to go homeless paying everything off.
