i know exactly who did it, but how could they? like how could someone else, who clearly isnt you, be allowed to do this? and whats the best way to clear this up?

This person would have to know everybody you owed money too. If none of your debt is on the bankruptcy call the credit ppl and tell them. If its all your debt they still would of had to sign papers and appear in court. If you didnt sign or appear in court see a lawyer the first visits free. I dont see how it can but done, bankruptcy takes a lot of time filling out papers of the ppl you owe.

File a report with the credit agency that shows this. I believe they have 30 days to correct any mistakes.

I lost my wallet a while back and I had to call Equifax and Transunion and report it. You can put an alarm on your information, for example, there will be extra steps if someone applies for credit in your name. Check out the below website about identity theft. Good Luck!

File fraud and go through the steps to dispute it. Gather any and all information that will help you prove you didn't file it. With something like this, you might need the help of an attorney.
