Don't give your credit card number to people.

There are some other safeguards like, most places ask for the expiration date of the card and the security code on the back of the card. But it is possible to make a charge with just the credit card number too.

Yes. Some online stores don't even require the security code printed on the back of the card. All they need is the billing address, your name, and the card number, and they could do damage.

It's probably possible for them to do even more damage, like ID theft... I don't know the inns and outs, but I think you should change your card # just to be sure.

Yes - best bet is to report the card stolen and have them issue you a new number. why take that chance?
