My Husband and I filed Chapter 13. However, we have decided it is not a good move for us. So, we have our Creditor Meeting with the Trustee this week and want to know what will happen if we decide not to go through with this? Mainly, does this go on our credit report anyhow?

For example, do online cash advance companies just charge a credit card for cash, pay the transaction fee to the credit card company and charge their own fee to the customer; thus, a cash advance company would take no risk? Then, could a person create a site to do the same and just undercut the margins in this business?

A friend of mine has a difficult time paying for repairs and he is late on his mortgage payments. Someone told him to ask for reverse mortgage. What does this implies? Is this a good advice? Have any of you done that and are you satisfied? Is it complicated?

I need a credit check on myself. I have done this in the past, and never needed a credit card number. I have never given a credit card number without being charged.
Does anyone know of a free credit check without giving a credit card number?

Question? What makes people keep using them when they see the destruction it is causing?

Many people, mostly younger folks and women, have so many credit cards they end up in severe debt and ruin their credit for many years to come. Credit card applications are mailed out by the tons and people keep activating them knowing the interest rate is or will be up to 20% or higher. Everyone needs at least one credit card and no more than two. You also need one revolving (department store) credit card to establish a good credit history. The limit on the credit card(s) should be no more than 10% of your annual salary and the revolving card half that. Always make a minimum of a double payment on all your credit cards and pay on the due date. Never ever be even one day late. The interest rate and late fees will destroy you. If you are experiencing problems the first thing you need to do is carefully cut the cards up and throw them away. If you can not afford to pay the total monthly bill attempt to get a consolidation loan to get out of debt. The monthly payment will be less than the total monthly payment of all your cards with a much lower rate. Some banks and credit unions will be willing to help you out if they know why you are taking out the loan. Financial debt can create so much strain it can even destroy your peace of mind and your marriage. Don’t fall into that trap.

This equity line of credit pymt is steep for me. Rec'd offer for credit card 2.99APR fixed for life. (1st Natl Bank of Omaha) Is it better to open the credit card with the 2.99 for life? The int. won't be tax deduct. but the pymts should be more manageable. My firs mtg has 5.99 fixed & I'm 4 yrs into it. I think I should keep it as is. Thanks for any advice.

I filed for chapter 13 Personal Bancruptcy 7 years ago. I was just wondering: How long can someone wait to aquire a new line of credit; Is it 7 or 10 years now? I'm asking Because recently my Personal Bank sent me a Pre-Approved Unsecured Credit Card Application via the net. I filled it up w/ my Personal Info. Thinking it was just a fluke then after about a week,Lo and behold ,a Brand Spanking New Unsecured Credit Card w/ my name on it! Right After that, i applied with another Credit card company via the net, but it said that it can't process my application at this time. Iv'e been out of the hole for 7 years now so do you think is it ok to apply for more New lines of credit?...any info or suggestions is highly appreciated ,God Bless & Thanks a million in advance!
