First Direct you get an interest free one, but to avoid paying fees you should open a savings account too (don't have to put much in it!)

im a big fan of smile.co.uk - part of the co-operative bank

they offer a £500 "fee free" overdraft as standard, its not interest free but you dont get charged money every time you use it.

you can lodge money via any post office and the money lodgement is instant, unline other online banks such as cahoot where it takes like 3-5 days to show up on your account.

their credit scoring is quite low and their online site is superb.

also once you have a bank account, applying for additional items such as loans, credt cards etc takes about 30 seconds and the answer is instant.

nowadays, I dont think they will give an overdraft as soon as you open a bank account, the banks are on the ball now.

You need to build up your account activity then after about 6 months you may be able to get one.
