Take a look at the links I've posted below.

When you are dealing with identity theft, you need to follow a very specific procedure. If you don't, you end up with what you are going through right now.

Nobody is going to help you restore your credit. You must do it yourself, and stay on it!

The bad news is it can take a few months, and lots of letter writing.

The good news is if these creditors and credit bureaus don't cooperate and follow the procedures, you can sue them for $1000 for trashing your credit and not doing anything about it.

This happened to me a while ago, and I had to sue one creditor for not removing the bad credit info from my report. Got $1200 for my troubles.

I have been going through the same thing. I didn't know this had happened until a few months ago, I went to apply for a mortgage. What a nightmare.I am still dealing with this mess.

To get started, you will need to go to AnnualCreditReport.com and pull all 3 of your credit reports. Then you have to go to each bureau's website and dispute all of the incorrect accounts. Do it on line, it's faster. They will in turn investigate these items.Their investigations last 30 days. Depending on the info they get back from the creditors, these items will either be removed or not. Some of mine were and some were not. Keep in mind that the three credit bureaus make their money off of creditors and collection agency's, so they don't put a lot of effort into these investigations or helping you out.

You can also send letters to the creditors.Go to some of these free credit repair websites. They have sample letters that you can send. They can give you more info on all of this.

It is not an easy process and it is time consuming, so expect to be going through this for a long time. It takes some people years to fix the damage. Good luck!

First, put a freeze on your social security number with all the credit bureaus.

Second, pull your report and dispute EVERYTHING on it.

Third, file a complaint with the FTC and while you're at it, a police report.

Fourth, and this is worst case scenario, consult a bankruptcy attorney. I did what I was suppose to (read above) and after years of trying to fight it, I filed bankruptcy. That was the only way to make it go away and stop.
