Ok. Because I have made mistakes helping folks, I have got myself in a slump. I have a low credit score and I keep working to fix it but still have other bills. I do not use credit cards so everything I purchase comes out of my checking account. Yes it gets tight. I pay $1600 in rent, I make $100,000 annually and because I don't own a home Uncle Same hits me with $10,000 taxes owed for 2006. I keep saying I will buy once I straighten my credit but that might take awhile and in the mean time I am owing Uncle Sam. Please help I don't know what to do. Yes I am constantly trying to clean up the cred and keep bills up-to date. Any advice offered is much appreciated. All I know is if I don't buy a home, my owed taxes will get higher and higher. HELP AND THANKS!!!!

I purchased a car which I sold about a year and a half later. ^ months down the line the purchaser called me shouting that it had been repossessed. I didn't have a clue what she was on about but tried to help her. I called the finance company and explained that I had bought the car cash and had not taken any finance on it. They confirmed that the previous owner to me had done this. I explained that I and the current owner had bought the car in good faith unaware of any HP owing.

I cannot for the life of me remember the place I bought it from all I know is that it was on a main road in hillingdon. I destroyed the receipt about a month after selling the car as I moved house and had a clear out. I have explained this to the person that bought the car and have offered to explain in writing to whoever needs it.

Her and her husband have got very aggressive over this and keep demanding i give them their £800 back! They do not believe that I can't remember the place that I got it from!

I know that an old account will be deleted from your credit report 7 years from "last activity". But what is "last activity"? Last payment? Last purchase on the credit card? Last contact with the company? Do the 3 credit bureaus have different definitions? Or do companies and collections have different definitions?

i read recently in my local paper a family who had borrowed from one of these lenders(shopacheck), they had borrowed £1000 and the total amount they had to pay back was £1750.00, in this day and age why do the goverment allow these lenders to do this, all these lenders are doing is targeting the poor and getting away with it, i find it bad enough having to pay a 5% loan but this amount is just laughable, any thoughts.

I just got my new debit card in the mail. It has a VISA logo, but the bank says I should be sure to press the "credit" button when making merchant transactions with my debit card.

Why would I want to do this? Is there any advantage?

redranche- IF I PAY IN FULL BEFORE THE DUE DATE WILL THAT REALLY HELP MY SCORE. I WAS TOLD THAT YOUR CREDIT SCORE IS ALSO FOLLOWED BY A PIE CHART ,EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR CREDIT IS BUILD ON A PERCENTILE.IF PAID IN FULL I WOULD HAVE A SMALL PERCENT IN THAT AREA...... WOULDN'T I?

rogerV- JUST 33%! SO WHEN SHOULD I PAY THE DIFFERENCE.IF I LEAVE A BALANCE WOULD IT HARM MY SCORE?

astley101- PAY BY THE DUE DATE BUT.... IN FULL OR IN 2 PARTS?

IAM JUST TRYING TO UNDERSTAND HOW THIS WORKS TO HELP MY SCORE AND TO MAKE SURE THAT I AM DOING IT RIGHT.

THANKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS GUYS.... AND GALS,THEY WERE A LITTLE HELPFUL.

I just turned 18 a month ago and in April my father is going to buy me my first car. I want to build up good credit so I can use it to buy my car and my father will give me the money to make the payments every month so I can build my credit with something MAJOR. Is this a good idea? I really want a PERFECT credit score, how can I achieve this?

What have been your expierences and is it worth it? I have bad credit and recently paid of all my debt and the only thing that is still in good standing and being paid on time every month is my car. I am wanting to rebuild my credit, but i dont really like credit cards and if i apply for somthing like a walmart or gas card, i dont want to risk being denied and t look bad on my credit. So is a pre-paid a good way to do that? If there is somthing that i might have a better chance of getting approved for please let me know..my score is 540 =(

i have about $5000 worth of credit card debt built up from college that i want to pay off quickly. the interest rates are killing me and i find it harder and harder to pay them, even the min. payment. of course this has had a negitive effect on my credit score so i'm finding it difficult to get a personal loan to pay them off. Any suggestions on how to get a handle on this debt? how about any place that will give you a loan with a low credit score?

I've been in default default on several loans (some student loans) for a long time. Naturally I have assumed terrible credit, and have always been denied for credit. I went recently to try to get stuff in order, but when I got my reports, they all reported NO credit. Should I expect that these loans have been discharged? Or is there another way to track down 'lost' credit. I don't want to get surprised by it popping back up at me while I'm trying to 're-establish' my credit. Any clues?

Long story made short my friend has a car that he still owes on and hasn't made payments on it in 6-7months. They haven't physically repo"d it b/c they can't get a hold of him. He now has the money to pay up his payments. He is telling me that he can pay up the payments then keep doing his monthly payments on time and it won't effect his credit? No way right? If so how?
