My credit is very poor. When I was younger I opened a some credit cards and didnt understand the importance of paying them off. Two years later I have very poor credit and owe about 4,000 dollars in total to different creditors. I really want to rebuild my credit and start getting approved for things. I just want to start over. What is the best way to do this?

Regular Inquiries - My fiance has a bank that is checking his credit every year and it says "Permissible Purpose: Credit Transaction".

Promotional Inquiries - How do you make these stop? We don't want our credit looked at for ANY REASON while we are cleaning!

Account Review Inquiries - This one says it doesn't affect your credit score, are they telling the truth?

Also what does it mean that an account will "drop off your credit on such and such date"? With a $0 balance that seems like a good thing but what about the ones that still have a balance?

I recived a letter from a company NCO Portfolio group demanding 2700 in 30 days or else they will forward it to a lawyer in my town to file a law suit against me. This bill was something that was charged off 5 years ago. I was laid off at the time and had no source of income. Now i am making only 20k a year and i barely have can make it now. Anywas i was at my mothers and they called last week. This very authoritve man from NCO demanded that money now, i told him i dont have it. He then told me i have till the end of the day to come up with it or else he going to get his lawyer he has in my hometown to sue. Then he told me he could take my paycheck, assets ect.

I have a score of 566. My mom has a score of 639, but has been late on couple of payments in the past due to marital issues. So I am not sure what her chances are of helping me.

My employer lets say had stolen my identify and he put 4 address on my credit report. The reason he got my identify to begin with is because he tried to steal my wallet. The thing is I got those fake address taken off now I had my credit card and check from my bank. is there anything else getting a credit check and getting those fake address off. Should I tell social security or the bank that someone else used my bank account number or should I tell social security that my employer was using my social security? What do you think please let me know.

Actually I owe money on both accounts from a long time ago. I dont want to ever pay the bill because it is very big and it was from someone else using my service. Can I still get service on them through a different name or through another phone company service? If so, how do I go about doing this?

Account "went bad" in December and was turned over for collections in January. We've made small monthly payments since February, and received a notice from a new collection agency yesterday for the same account...apparently the first collection agency turned it over to another one.

At any rate, does an account have to be really old for a collection agency to consider settlement offers or does the fact that this account has been in collections less than a year really matter?

Also, I realize you can settle credit card accounts maybe, but can you settle other types of accounts, too? (Like, an old cable bill for example.)

Think of everytime you use your credit card these day. They gas pump, u-scan check outs, many times no one even looks at your card. To me, writing see id on the back is a lame attempt to place responsibility on another party. Isn't is just better to be responsible to know where your cards are and what to do if they happen to be stolen? What happened to being responsible in today's society?

I'm having a problem with getting a credit card in my name. Since I've graduated from high school I've had a credit card but its in mine and my dad's name. We both assumed that it would build up my credit but it turned out to not. I pay a bills in full and on time but I do not have any credit score obtained. No credit card companies will accept my application because I have no credit. They don't care that I have a full time job and a checking and savings account. Please I really can use some sound advice because I really hope to someday buy a home and it will be impossible without any credit obtained.

its showing up on my credit as a voluntary reposession..but in fact it is far from that..it was returned to the dealership by there request becuase financing fell through(they couldnt get us financed at what they had promised thru GMAC(low APR of like 3.0 and i had very little credit)..and they wanted to fix/re-do the loan docs but i refused and turned it back to them..becuase i didnt agree to the new terms)

what can i do to dispute this with GMAC since they say its a repo? ive considered sueing the selling dealership..can i do that?

A few years ago, I came to the conclusion, that if I couldn't save enough money to purchase something, I wouldn't buy it. I have friends and family who have thousands of dollars outstanding in credit for LUXURIES. Although they're uptodate with payments, they usually pay more than they are using in interest ect.

Unless someone is using credit for medical bills to save or improve their life, or possibly extend higher education(within reason), the only reason I can see for having thousands of dollars worth of credit, is lack of patience and greed. Too much credit can be a nightmare. Also, sometimes people fall on bad luck, and make the mistake of getting in a bad situation. We all make mistakes. But when does it stop? Does anyone else feel this way? Or am I just a money pincher?
