try on of the guarenteed cards. ok, its not really credit if they have your money up front, but you can buy on-line or over the phone with them, and it helps repeair your credit rating.

You can get a secured credit card. Or a low-limit credit card. But these two are very expensive and should only be used where a debit card is unacceptable (typically for the deposit renting a car; you can pay for the car rental afterwards with a debit card).
Another way is to get a card as an "authorized signatory" on someone else's card, or on a corporate card.
Discharged bankrupts get credit card offers -- lots of them. So can you. But watch out for greedy fees.
You don't say where you are. Getting a credit card with bad credit, or as a discharged bankrupt, is easier in the USA than in the UK. But it's possible everywhere.

Bankruptcies are likely to hit 100,000 this year, you want to make it 100,001!
You have a bad credit history because you're bad with credit. If you can't afford it don't buy it. When you get used to living within a budget, after about a year, then you can start thinking about credit cards.
You CANNOT borrow your way out of debt.

Simple you wait until you get one of those credit card offers in the mail. Then fill out the form for the credit card ON-LINE!!!! They like never turn anyone down over the computer. My cousin haves bad credit and no job and no bank account of any kind and that is what she did and capital one gave her a card.

They love people with bad history now. Thats a niche market many companies have delved into. Capital one can be ok, Monument also have a very low acceptance policy (I.e almost anyone can get them). Even people like MBNA do them now.

You have a bad credit history.
And you want to get a credit card.
You will then have an even worse credit history.
Why would you want to make your obvious "money black hole" even bigger ?
