It does not matter in what currency. Pocket money or allowance should cover the following and preferably be given on a weekly basis.
Weekly variable:
Travel fare to school, classes and back
Cost of low-maintanence hobby expences like library book, paints, hire of cd,etc
Meal allowance if home packed meal is not possible

Weekly fixed:
Expences for any one small knickknack like hairclips, comics, non-electronic cheap pocket games
Cost of any 3 ---sodapop,cola,icecream, hotdogs
A tenth encouraged for saving
A tenth inspired to be put for a social cause

20,00 USD États-Unis Dollars = 153,100 ZAR Afrique du Sud Rands

I think $20 US dollars is a good allowance weekly for a 13 year old. Thats 153,100 South african Rands.

No kid should be getting an allowance unless they are doing something to earn it.

My kid is 15 1/2 and he gets.. NOTHING.

If he wants money, he can go get a job & earn it.. same thing I did!
