I co-signed for my (now) ex-boyfriends car about a year and a half ago. I only did it because I was told that it would only be for a year, and then it could be transferred into his name. Well that didn't happen, and I now have creditors calling me because he continues to fall beind with his payments. I am not sure what my rights are, or if I have any as the co-signer. The creditors and bankers are no help, and I seem to have a hard time finding people who can give me good advice.
As a co-signer, can I take the car from him, and sell it on my own, or do I have to get it transferred into my name before I can do anything?

I constantly listen to adds and recommendations that knowing your credit report score will help you get a better loan or deal, with less interests. Isn't it enough to know that you have bad, ok or excellent credit? Do you actually go to the bank or the car dealer and say something like: "Hey, my credit score is 740, give me a good deal!"

I'm from another country and I'm trying to build my credit history, so any help is welcomed. Thanks!.

I need to file bankruptcy and I'm wondering how long does the process take.

I understand I have to take a class or something like that.

Thanks for the answers. Here is what I did last week.

I called the Collection Agency and explained that I was unemployed and I didn't have any assets. I told him that I wanted to pay $100 a month. I have a relative who can help me with this. The CA wanted a lump sum and I explained I couldn't do the lump sum but I could do the monthly payments. He became rude and hung up. The debt is for $2000 with Capital One.

So should I just try calling Capital One Monday? I have a return and answer date in court scheduled on Tuesday.

Currently my credit score is very low as i did not make any payments since1999 and so on because of which 3 of my Credit Card companies charge off, reported loss or Cancel/Closed the accounts, and they in turn sold them to Collection companies who are reporting them every year to the credit bureau, by which my account looks so bad most recently they reported in December 2005, I know it's my mistake and i want to repair it, Some one told me that even if i repay the whole thing still it does not help me as the history of past 5to6 years still remains the same in you history is their any other way which helps me in repairing my credit, Please advice me a good solution.

I thought there was a law passed that prohibited this practice, but I found a Service Station that is charging two different prices, one for cash and one for credit. I saw their price on the sign and stopped, then when I pressed credit, the price went up 6 cents per gal. Needless to say I was mad and I just left without filling up.

I'm wondering if, in the event of identity theft, a simple call to the card company to cancel will disable the thieves from further use of the card and the numbers that represent it. Is it that easy? I make plenty of international online orders and want to make sure what the deal is on financial "defense" in the event of a mishap.

Ok i had a collections on my credit report from about 4 years ago. even though the account has been paid and closed since July of 2004 it is still showing as a negative on my credit. The last credit run i had was in April when i bought my house and my score was about 750.

I just requested a dispute and investigation on that item and now i am wondering if when it gets figured out will it raise my score any?

My credit is in bad shape and I keep receiving offers to get a Aspire or Aspen credit card, but they have a $150.00 annual fee and a $29.00 start up fee and $6.00 a month fee. I would like to build up my credit score again--would this type of card help--my fico is around 550. I always throw these offers away, but I am wondering if I should take one.
